Is this a leave in conditioner?  Should it be used before any additional styling products like a heat protectent?

Yes, it is a leave in conditioner.  I use about a small pea-size amount on my freshly blow dried har, before I flat iron it.  Just pour a bit onto your fingertips, rub between your hands, and finger comb your hair from about 1/2 to 3/4 down to the ends (the driest part of your hair).  A little goes a LONG way!  I color regularly, and blow dry most days, and LOVE this product!! Major difference before/after!!

Is this good for smoothing/defrizzing fine hair without weighing it down?

Absolutely! Smoothing, defrizzing, does not weigh down, and the plus factor is the fact.....as personally I have had my hair growth increased!!! Great product and great Sellers!!

I use only keratin based products for my hair including shampoos & conditioners.  I put keratin Brazilian blow dry every 3 months so this product help extend the silkiness of the hair longer

Hello!   I use a professional hairdryer at a high heart when drying my hair and all seems fine.   I use this product first on wet hair, another product called Sebastien Whip Cream for Volume and another natural product and Andalou Naturals Biotin Volume Style Spray.   These products together, all purchased from Amazon.com work very well to provide great volume and soft silky results.   Hope this helps.   Best wishes
