A great read for all levels of sports gamblers
This is a great book and full of insightful nuggets of infomation, data and trends. Josh nails down the basics and gets into some contrarian bettings systeme/ plays that now have been tennants on how I approach games and look at the oddsboard. I went from a heavy over and fave player to more dogs, for exmaple, with line Freezes/ and being on the side of the Vegas guys. Lastly, and impactfully I walked away from the book, understanding the peripherals and keen depth of oddsmaking and figuring out when to go heavy on certain trends via the contrarian perspective.Thank you Josh for this essential daily data resource!!-Pat Monte

HANDS DOWN BEST SPORTS GAMBLING BOOK OUT THERE!!
I discovered Josh Appelbaum on the VSiN Network as he is a constant contributor on the popular tv show "Follow the Money" (Download the VSiN app to watch any and all shows on network). Anyhow, I've sports gambled for over 27 years and can say without questions this book has been the most informative text I've read on the subject. After reading, this remains as a workbook for me. There are so many systems illustrated with great data which opens your mind up to creating your own. This book will be on my shelf for reference so long as I sports gamble. It's a highlighter book if you will. For all of you seasoned sports gamblers, don't be pushed away by "A Beginner's Guide to the Ins and Outs of Sports Gambling".... it is indeed great for folks just starting, but also truly useful for the seasoned bettor. Since reading this a couple months back my profitability has increased for sure. I understand a few months is a small sample size, however it feels like night and day from my perspective. I generally don't write reviews, but this one merits it. I don't care if you're a $1 bettor, this book is worth far more than the price of admission!!Josh, thank you for your hard work on this!! I appreciate the invaluable information!!!Let's get this paper!!! Be well all!!!

We are always students of the Game
I really enjoy the analytics behind sports betting, have continued to learn over the last 5yrs. I am half way through the book and it’s already paying dividends.I wish I read this book years ago, it would have saved me many hard losses. If you are a beginner it’s a must read. If you are experienced i still recommend the read. Some chapters you can quick read if you already know the details. Once you get to the second half of the book is when it gets fun. Also really like the betting history tidbits provided throughout each chapter. Learning you legitimately have the law on your side to establish a career/LLC in “sports betting” or “trading” is nice to know. Will have to dive into this further. In summary, you wager a lot more than the cost of the book. Invest in your knowledge and buy the book. You won’t be disappointed.

Sports Betting 101
What a fantastic book. Josh takes you inside the mind of a professional handicapper. Learn the ins and outs of how to bet and what it takes to consistently make money. You will learn systems, betting indicators, and how to read betting splits (extremely helpful) so you can get an idea of where the Sharp action is so you can bet like the professionals. It’s fun to read and explains everything in an easy to understand way. . A must read for the beginning sports bettor. Buy it. 😀

Parlay this.
It seems like a good starter read to help evaluate how to make basic bets.

Ignore the trolls, Josh is SHARP!
Josh's book is a must own for all sports gamblers. It doesn't matter if your state just legalized gambling and you are new to betting, or you've been sweating bets since 2015 like I have, this book will give you an edge. Being a profitable sports bettor makes you more of a "sports trader" than a bettor - learning to read daily line moves, see what the markets are doing, similarly to how day traders read their markets. Don't waste your time chasing big payouts with parlays. Read the book, find some systems you like, and watch your bankroll grow. If you can average a net of +0.5 units per day, $100 bettors would win $18,000+ per year. This will give you everything you need to develop your own winning systems. Thanks, Josh! Stay sharp!

Great book
I will say that I have been gambling for a long time. This book was a great read and helped me understand how to do what I love doing a lot better. The playbook this book lays out for you will help you become a much better at understanding how to look at lines in different sports and what to look for in movement. I would say the thing that I struggled with most was good bankroll management. Josh lays out a very good plan for that whether you play a lot of games everyday or whether you you play every once in a while. The insights that Josh shares in this book are invaluable if you want to be consistent and profitable in the sports betting industry. I would also suggest listening to his podcast because I think you can learn something from him everyday even if you are not interested in any games that day. My friends who know I play have noticed I have gotten a lot better and it is all thanks to this book and Josh's insights on how to be successful. I have recommended this book to everyone that asks me how I have become more consistent and profitable.

Decent General Info But Dated
Knowing almost nothing about sports betting, I picked up this book to begin my education. It does a good job of explaining the basics and does a decent job of laying out some basic strategies, both general and some sport-specific.That said, it has what I would consider some significant limitations. The sport-specific strategies are limited to only the most popular US sports; NHL, MLS, and international sports (e.g. European football) aren’t covered. Also, the publication date is from 2019; since then, US-based online sports books have EXPLODED but only offshore books are mentioned. So, a decent read if you’re starting from scratch but I might recommend shopping around for something a bit more current. If you already are familiar with sports betting, I’d pass on this one and look for something else that will go into more details on strategies, bankroll management, and fundamental concepts that drive the odds markets.
