This is a great shifter that makes shifting near effortless and the grip that it uses falls into your hand like it was custom made for you. Contrary to a bad review that asserts that replacing the gear cable is near impossible, this is false. No disassembly is needed and you just must put the shifter into 9th gear and carefully insert the cable end at the right angle to get it to spool in. The shifters last like forever but a shot of dry Teflon lube will help them stay smooth shifting and extend life indefinitely. The Optical display is also the best ever designed and so easy to see what gear you are in. Given a choice, I would use the SRAM version with an SRAM derailleur but the Shimano version works well too. I have installed a number of these shifters to help mostly senior people with hand/finger issues that make STI or trigger shifters very difficult and painful to use and this solves their problem beautifully. The ideal shifter for recumbent bikes as well.

Shifts better than the Shimano trigger shifter it replaces. Very easy to install. Shifts well and solves my weak/damaged thumb problem when shifting down. The grip portion is longer than needed. I had to cut away more of the ergonomic handlebar grip than I wanted in order to place the brake lever where I want it. Still, a positive change on my bike.

replaced exact same unit on bike but new one is giving me fits on alignment will see if it gets better but I don't see it

This is the only 9 speed twist shifter you can buy,. If you have thumb pain when you shift your bike with 9 speed trigger shifters with Shimano derailleurs, you should buy this. It works great.The one-star review is because around the time you wear through a few tires, the cable will also wear out, fray and then break.For about 3 bucks you can buy a new cable, but you probably won't be able to replace the one in the shifter. For starters, you have to pry the shifter open, at which point at least one "mystery part" will fall out. After you pull out the broken cable, you will try to insert the new cable. That's the problem. The hole through which the cable feeds is curved and not smooth. The end of the cable gets jammed inside and won't go through. I tried greasing the cable and kinking then spinning, but nothing will get it past the jam.So again, if your thumb hurts, buy this shifter, then when the cable breaks, buy another shifter.I wonder if that was their plan?

Exactly as described

I had this fitted on a folding bike with Shimano Tiagra derailleurs to replace trigger shifters. Easy to shift especially for someone like me with small hands who find trigger shifters difficult due to the distance it needs to travel when down shifting.

Works fine. Shifter handle is a little long, takes up a lot of room on the bar.
