You might be surprised, a real cost saver
I ordered two of these just to see since they are the same cutout dimension as KEF's ceiling speakers which I was originally going to get. I listened to the KEF's at a distributor and planned on getting the Q-series up front (bookshelves and center- not in-wall) and the KEF Q-series ceilings for side and rear surround duty in a 7.1 system, though $250-$300 per ceiling speaker just seemed high so I started looking around (Amazon, monoprice). I tried 2 of these out and am very pleased with the result. I had looked for Micca's reference series, but couldn't find them. I think the best thing about this little guy is the silk dome tweeter. It has a nice crispness to it after running my receiver's (Pioneer's 1120-K) room EQ program. The program did not greatly bump up or down the levels in the EQ band. They are clear and the installation was very easy (banana clips a plus). The mid-bass seems neutral too but really it is up to the sound mixer to fill these with sound. It seems just right and does the job for 1/10th the price as the more expensive models. I can't do a real comparison to other more expensive speakers but they seem very comparable. A pink noise test seemed pretty uniform and comparable to the Andrew Jones BS22's bookshelves and center I have as it went around the room. These might be a real good match together for a budget system. I do have these in backerboxes mind you that I installed prior to drywall and are sealed and stuffed with batting. There is not too much info coming from the surrounds channels normally but they can get loud enough in movies well (Saving Private Ryan, Gravity (amazing surround effects). It adds great ambiance to movies. You can aim the tweeter a little bit, but I couldn't really tell too much difference when pointed down or at the main listening position. I have a pretty reflective great room and 9 foot ceilings. Don't rely on these for bass, that is what a subwoofer is for. Ceilings have their inherent limitations, but I think they did just fine for my tastes that I ordered 2 more for those back surrounds. They are keepers

Sounds crisp and install is a breeze!
These sound great for the price. Normally in wall/ceiling speakers are nondirectional and slightly echoey. With some installation considerations, these sound perfect. We used batt insulation behind the speaker in lieu of using a ceiling box. It avoids sound going up to the next level and makes it clearer. Also the tweeter is directional, so make sure to do this as you install and test. It will save you time of removing the grill. Installation was a breeze! Used a gypsum saw I have to cut the circle using the template that came with it. The grill pops out so you can have concealed screws and a clean install. The grill fits snug but using a small hook or tweezers, it can pop out easily. I had to pop it off to readjust the tweeter. The whole unit is very secure in the ceiling. No rattle or gaps. The grill is paintable but I left it white. It looks great the way it is. It sounds clear and not like other ceiling speakers. The direction of the tweeters works surprisingly well. Clear, powerful, crisp. I would definitely get these again if I needed to for my workout area.

Enjoyed by this non-audiophile
I recently finished my basement and added a small family/tv area. Unlike my previous family space with a TV upstairs, I have a back wall so surround sound was actually an option. My original plan had been to put some 8.5" polk in-wall speakers into the wall. Since I finished EVERYTHING in the basement I ran some 14 gauge braided speaker wire (unshielded and probably not up to code but the electric inspector where I live doesn't do squat when he inspects) up through the joists in the ceiling so that I could easily hook them up to the receiver (I have a Yamaha 5.1 receiver). I ended up getting these because once the walls were up and I looked at the space with the drywall and everything else I realized that 8.5" would be massive overkill. And possibly shake down my whole house. Also, I abandoned the idea of buying polks because of the price. These were decently reviewed and very inexpensive, so I bought them. Installation was very simple. I knew where I wanted them installed and had the speaker wire taped to the insulation immediately behind the drywall and pilot holes already cut. It was a bit traumatizing to cut into the drywall and paint that my wife and I had spent countless hours hanging and painting, but cut I did. I cleared out the insulation a cylindrical space behind the hole and pushed the remaining insulation back a couple inches. The speakers went into and attached to the wall with no hitch. Getting the grills back on the front was harder than I thought and resulted in a minor (non-OSHA) injury in the form of a skinned thumb. Once installed they looked very nice - we decided to not paint them as the white was a nice contrast with the red on the wall. We installed these just before Christmas and bought the receiver with some gift money we received (no front channel speakers yet) and used these to fill the space with Christmas music on Christmas morning while we opened presents with our son. These two speakers on their own were able to fill the space with what sounded to us like great music (it was streamed over a Pandora One account, HD audio enabled). The range seemed full, the sound seemed as full bodied as I would expect it to be and it made our holiday a delightful one. We have since bought the front three channels and a TV to match and the surround sound we get now (with a calibrated receiver) is fantastic. We are more immersed in our movies and games now. I am not an audiophile (128 Kbps MP3's are OK with me) but these speakers sound great, especially considering the price I paid for them.

Was a bit speculative before buying from this relatively unknown brand in India but I was surprised to realize that these speakers were high end and fabtastic upon purchasing!! They don't sound cheap or shrill or thin. Perhaps the tonal quality is so balanced and clean that they match my JBL Professional Active Speakers!! The build, finish, packaging and everything is spot on. Great value for money. The tweeters are so swett and clean, not ear fatiguing. The mods and forward sounding and the bass is more than adequate depending on the box type you choose for the ceiling mounting. Go for it!!
