Diffucult venting
The air conditioner could be easy to install, which is what we were looking for. However, it replaced a 12,000 BTU window unit which bit the dust. Sadly, the 14,000 BTU does not cool the area that the 12,000 used to, so we added a 5000 BTU in another window to do the job. Fortunately for us, that was an extra that we weren't using. The vent to the outside via a window is a very clumsy design. It needs improvement. The window adapter is a threaded plastic fitting that the flexible tube that has screw into. Very clumsy connection.

I LOVE this AC
This is my second portable AC. Having already owned 1, I was looking for something just for the bedroom. Initially I was looking at 8,000 BTU, again, thinking i only want it for the bedroom. I'm glad i went with this 14,000 BTU, as it worked so well, I put it out in the living room, and put my original portable AC (Whynter) into the bedroom.I'm no expert on these items....I've only used 2. Sadly, these arent usually setup in stores, to demo them before buying. It sure would be nice to gauge the airflow, temp of the air, and sound level before investing! That's why I'm sharing my experience with youI came across this model by accident. My neighbor brought one home from a local store. He did 0 research. didnt read a single review, so I was very curious as to how his would compare to my 3 year old Whynter that I researched for weeks. Man did he lucked out! The airflow is COLD and plentiful! it's quieter than my current one. the window unit is a better design, the hose is wider, thicker, and attaches cleanly and easily to both the window kit and the AC unit.I've had this for less than 1 week, however in my limited experience, having used only 2 models, this one is FAR superior. my house is small, roughly 800 SQ ft, and of that, i am only trying to cool slightly over half of that. Cooling larger areas would result in different experiences than mine, and would likely need multiple units....you'll never confuse this with Central Air...Right now, it is 105 outside and 72 inside. my older 12,000 BTU unit would be struggling to keep it under 80 by this time of day. I highly recommend this to anyone in the market for an AC

Soooo Disappointed
My 21'x31' garage (651 sq) in Dallas is becoming a workshop. I spent most of a day researching how best to cool it. It has sheetrocked walls and an 8' ceiling. I insulated both overhead doors, which fit with a tight seal when closed. One of the walls, shared with the house, is insulated; I'm sure the others are not. Nor is the attic. That will come, and I took it into consideration when appraising this unit's performance. Here are the words, quoted from the Amazon description, that ultimately convinced me to buy this: "14,000 BTU air conditioner cools approximately 700 sq." -- significantly more than my shop.It was 6:00 PM when I started the unit on full cool. The temperature both inside and out was 100 degrees. Four hours later, at 10:00 PM, it was still 100 in the shop. I decided it wasn't fair to ask it to bring that temp down from scratch in the afternoon heat, so I tried again the next morning. When I started it at 9:00 AM the temperature inside was 88. 7-1/2 hours of full-on cool later, at 4:30 PM, it was 95 inside.I understand the ramifications of cooling a mostly uninsulated room. However, at least a bubble of relative coolness should form around the unit itself, particularly snugged up in an insulated corner. During the entire operation of this unit I could only feel cool air if I stood directly in the air flow and no farther than three feet away. It did not cool any of the area around it. Turning on auxiliary fans to move the air around didn't help.On an unrelated note, the exhaust vent is poorly designed. If the window has any kind of sill inside, the coupling will not fit the window insert. It rests on the sill and sits about two inches higher than the hole made for it (see picture). I cut and painted a wooden insert to raise the hole up to where it needed to be (again, see picture).I had hoped for something better. Ah, well. Back it goes.

Only Good for a small room
you have to stand right in front of it it's only Good for a small room. I would give it 5 starts but I paid a little over $500 after taxes and it doesn't cool down my small 500 square foot living room even after having it on all day long

Four Stars
works great, slightly noisy but no worse than the box fan it replaced.

doesn't perform as well as expected.
We have an older Danby air-conditioner that works wonderfully. We bought this model for our 500 square-foot exercise room, But it never did cool the room down even after an hour and half.

Love My Danby
This unit met all expectations. Normally the thought of an air conditioner in Maine was quite unusual on the coast but due to climate change, some parts of the day can get quite unbearable. The type of windows in the cottage do not allow the usage of a window air conditioner. Installation was quick. Cools area larger than specified. Very happy with this purchase.

Only lasted 2 seasons
I bought this unit in Sept. 2015 to cool a 200 sq. ft. room and it barely cooled the room to a pleasant temperature against this Texas heat. This unit only lasted 2 seasons - conveniently after warranty ended might I add. I can't find parts. I can't find an AC repair shop willing to troubleshoot it. I am very disappointed in this unit.
