Love this book. The paper is perfect for fountain pens. It’s Dosent feather out. Paper is strong and smooth.

This is a very good journal/notebook. It is the perfect size, and it is sturdy. It has a heavy paper cover with cloth binding. I read an earlier review and they were complaining that it wasn't cloth bound... it is... it is not cloth covered, and it is not advertised as such. It has an elastic strap, which I remove, because I place these in a nice custom made leather journal cover. This is my main everyday journal, and I use a TWSBI fountain pen with it. It goes where I go. The paper is smooth but with just enough grit to grab the fountain pen ink and hold it. There is never any bleed through, and only the slightest ghosting... which I do not notice once I write on the opposite side. It is perfect. It is nice and fat, almost 1/2 an inch in depth, and there is plenty of room for my musings and observations. While this is not an inexpensive notebook, I consider it worth the money. In today's market of cheaply made goods, it's worth paying extra for something so old school and nice. For the money I have a book that lasts weeks or months depending...cheaper than one gross meal at a fast food joint. Put in perspective, these are not expensive at all. And in today's world of electronics, I find sitting at my desk writing with a quality pen in a quality paper notebook to be a relaxing and joyful experience. Relaxation and joy are not so easy to find, so simply.

Excellent paper to write on, and a really nice size for carrying around. I really like the paper. Unfortunately, I need a stiff back cover so I can write on the fly with no support other than my knee. This notebook is too floppy. It doesn't open flat so you need to press the page down, but the back is too flexible and it ends up being a bit of a wrestling match. Lastly, the lines are a bit wide - somewhere between college ruled and "wide ruled" in the USA. You need at least college ruled (7mm?) when the pages are this small. Unfortunately, I will return this one.

I am a fountain pen user who has used Moleskin notebooks for years. I thought they were the gold standard until I started using this notebook. The paper is exquisite -- thick and bright. I am currently using Iroshizuku Kon-Peki ink loaded in a Platinum 3776 Century with a medium nib. The ink lays down wet and crisp on the sheet and dries very quickly. No bleed-through/feathering. And the ink's color really pops off the sheet. The only negative I have noticed in that when opened, the pages really do not lie flat. But with paper that performs like this, I could care less.

I use these in an a5 hobonichi cover for collections, journaling and general writing. I write exclusively with fountain pens, with EF lamy Safari being my daily pen. Shows the ink beautifully and is smooth and lovely to write on. Coming in an A5 size and with an elastic is even more perfect. The price unbeatable for the quality!!

Perfect bound, high-quality paper, and a fantastically reasonable price. I use it primarily for writing with fountain pens, as I do most of my non-work writing with fountain pens, and it's tough to beat the Clairefontaine Basic notebook. Personally, I have seen no feathering or bleedthrough from my pens. As the name suggests, there are no frills: just high-quality lined paper inside of a sturdy cover. In my months of using this notebook, the cover and the elastic band have held up quite nicely. Would definitely recommend and will buy again when this one is full!

There are a number of glaring issues with how this notebook is structured. 1. The elastic band is anchored to the back cover with metal rivets/anchors, which creates a non-flat back cover. There are two distinct bulges when trying to write on the right side of the notebook, which will become more and more noticeable as you get to the end of the notebook. But there are issues with getting to the end of the notebook, because... 2. The notebook doesn't lay flat. The notebook features a good number of pages, but requires a hand to hold the notebook in-place if you plan on writing lengthy entries. I imagine if this was used as a random thoughts notebook instead of a journal, it will be better. 3. The paper is pretty awesome -- smooth and thick, with no bleed through or ghosting even for fountain pens. But wet inks do not dry quickly on this paper, so you'll need to keep the book open or have a separate sheet inside to shield the opposite side of the notebook to dry the ink. Overall, the notebook is fine. It is pretty sturdy for being a softcover, and the paper is of really high quality. I'd just temper my expectations to use this as a long-term journal. If Clairefontaine can offer this in blank pages rather than college ruled, I think that'd expand the usability of these will increase.

I love the Clairefontaine products. These smaller notebooks are perfect to toss in a knapsack or suitcase. The covers aren't much to look at, serviceable, but the paper is very smooth for writing. I hate scratchy paper and pens. Clairefontaine's paper is perfectly smooth to the touch and allows pens to glide effortlessly. The ruling is the equivalent of college ruled, which is perfect for my handwriting. I get lost with larger ruled paper.

Top quality, fountain pen-friendly paper. Wish the paper was off-white.

Also ich weiß nicht genau wo bei allen anderen das Problem liegt. Die Verarbeitung ist wie immer. Habe die Fadenbindung genau wie sonst auch. Buch bleibt offen liegen nichts schlägt zu oder sonstiges. Bin wie immer sehr zufrieden mit der Qualität und bei knappen 7 Euro kann man da echt nichts sagen. Hab schon sehr viel teure Notitzhefte gesehen für sehr viel weniger Qualität. Kaufe es auch weiterhin...

Me encantan estos cuadernos. El encuadernado es muy resistente, permite la total apertura del cuaderno, y como no tiene márgenes de ningún tipo, se puede aprovechar toda la hoja. Las hojas son gruesas, no traspasa nada, ni siquiera con mis marcadores más oscuros. Desliza perfecto el bolígrafo. La cuadrícula está suficientemente marcada para guiar durante la escritura, y a la vez no molesta porque no destaca demasiado. En mi opinión son unos cuadernos de 10
