Great - just great
Works perfectly- need to do it 2-3 times it cuts a perfect top of the shell from the narrower side of the egg. Usually very clean cut 🤣. I have the original one with the ball dropping type of mechanism - it works well as well.

Soft Boiled Eggs Like A Pro
America's Test Kitchen was right. This thing is fabulous and really elevated our soft boiled egg experience. It's easy to use and doesn't really take much practice. All my kids (under 10) can do it. And they think it's fun! It also feels really well made like it will last years

A great device - cracks with 2 snaps and can open. May need to use a knife to finish the job afterwards.
This is America Test Kitchen's highest recommended egg cracker. I tried it on about.. 50 eggs so far and here's my review:Yes it does work. Two snaps will crack the egg, but not a clean cut. By clean cut I mean surgical line cut. No, it won't do that. I thought it would and I was disappointed at first. After trying other brands and checking with my friends, I realized that no cutter makes a clean surgical line. All egg cutters will dent and roughly cut the egg shells and a bit of manipulation by hand, by knife, or by twisting and turning the cutter is still required to remove the egg top.And the cut line won't be surgically clean. A bit jagged edge or cracked egg (down the egg) is normal and expected. The egg is covered by a white outer membrane and the membrane gets sticky and stiff after cooking, so that's what causing the shells to not cut surgically as I had dreamed for (albeit incorrectly). To make that surgical line, you need to use the topper to dent the shells and then use a sharp kitchen knife to finish the job.So, have the correct and proper expectations.Anyway, having said all that......... After about 50 eggs:1. Use the topper to "cut" or "dent" the eggs with 2 snaps.2. Twist and lift the topper off at an angle in attempt to peel off the egg top that's been scored/dented/cut by the topper.3. Use a kitchen knife to finish the job. It is often needed despite best use of this tool. Eggs just aren't 100% uniform in size, shape, and shell rigidity. From eggs 40 to 50 (the last 10), having thoroughly experienced with the tool: 4 out of 10 eggs required a bit kitchen knife touch up after using the topper. The other 6 resulted in egg top removal without the need of additional knife work.

Cuts, cleanly, and easily
I love soft, boiled eggs, but hate breaking off the shell. Too often the shell gets into my egg. Not anymore! One snap, and the top comes off cleanly in my spoon or toast point fits right into the egg. Easy to clean and doesn’t take up any room in my drawer. If you like soft boiled eggs, you need this.

My favorite
I love soft boiled eggs. This works , along with an egg holder. I suppose you could cradle an egg in a towel and get the same results.

Works sometimes
It takes a bit of practice to get this device to work. Shell thickness is a major variable. I have ended up shattering soft boiled eggs instead of just cutting the top off. I saw a demo of this unit by the editor of American Test Kitchen...it was a featured item and he could not get it to work right while on TV! It is nice when it does work....nice clean top cut on your egg. Count on about 50% success rate.I gave it 3 stars because it is solidly made and depending on the egg shell thickness, it does make a nice clean cut some of the time....better than trying to cut the top of an egg with a knife.

the perfect invention
If you like soft boiled eggs, this is the perfect invention. Put your cooked egg into your egg holder. Put Topper on egg. Then with two snaps of the Topper and you have a clean cut line on the top of your egg. With a sharp or serrated knife, you open the egg. That's it. No mess!Try it you'll love it.

Good for large eggs
Nice size, works on large eggs, but does take a little bit of practice to get the hang of cracking an egg. Fun to use!
