Very limited use because of moving jaws.
This is a good small ratchet clamp FOR CERTAIN THINGS. It works on flat things, but it doesn't do well on any thing that's round or curved. The wobble-head ends make it want to slip off the project too easy. It seems like all clamps now days have "wiggly" ends. Rigid ends would be preferred on most of my projects. In fairness to this clamp, it DOES do what I got it for VERY well. I needed it to squeeze the lock on a cam-lock cinch strap . But other things I've tried to use them for don't do so well because of those darned wobbly ends. I think it would be better maybe if 1 jaw was rigid & 1 was able to move.

1.3" not 1.5"
Not going to work for two 3/4" pieces of wood. I expect better from Irwin clamps.

Quick maybe ---- Grip not!!
These clamps are very quick to apply and release but due to the lack of mechanical advantage, the distance from the pivot to the clamps is virtually the same as the distance from the pivot to the end of the handles, you cannot apply much more than hand pressure to the work. These may work fine for clamping the work while glue sets up or for stabilizing a router guide or some other task that does not require a lot of pressure but cannot compare to C-clamps or Vice grips in holding power. I bought 3 of these things for use in an industrial environment to clamp stops in a vertical boring machine but they would slip at the slightest impact, no matter how hard I tried to clamp them. As I pointed out, the problem seems to be the lack of mechanical advantage in clamping. The design simply will not allow you to hold any item tighter than you can hold it with your hand. In applications where you need another hand to hold something, they are probably just fine, and just that, another hand.

Fits in places other clamps can't
These are really small and not for construction or heavy use. They have a toothed ratchet mechanism so they are going to relax a bit to the last engaged tooth. They do a great job overall when other clamps will not work. Binder clips from a stationary store will do a better job for most applications. These will not open 1.5". You might get a piece as large as 1.375" in the jaws with a bit of luck.
