Ugreen are a brand I've had no issues and this does the job perfectly, only needing the power supply for old 3.5" drives I connect externally.

Needed to check the condition of two internal HDD. In the past I have opened up my PC and connected the HDD to the PC and used the usual HDD tools to check the drive. I looked at purchasing a docking station for HDD's to make checking and managing the HDDs easy but could not justify the cost for the few times I needed to check out a drive. This UGREEN SATA cable is an excellent solution which is very cost effective. It also does not take up any space and can be easily stored in the bottom of the toolbox unlike a docking station. I can also be used for 3.5 and 2.5 HDDS In my case I wanted to check two 3.5 inch drives so needed to plug in a 12V PSU which I already had. BE AWARE you will need a 12v 2 amp PSU if you are using 3.5 inch HDD's I have only used this cable twice so cannot comment on the longevity but on both occasions the discs were able to be seen by the Windows based disc tools I use. I haven't used any bootable tools so cannot comment on whether or not the disc will be seen by such apps as Seatools or an other bootable disc manager. NOTE: I used the cable to check a disc formatted for windows and one formatted for Linux. Windows explorer was able to see the widows disc but obviously did not see the Linux disc. But as I said the windows disc management tools I use has no problem seeing both discs. UPDATE: Since writing the above I have used the cable with the bootable version of seatools and it has worked without problem. Its an excellent and very versatile solution for connecting an internal HDD to a PC for testing.

Works well. Power supply needs to be centre positive (I potentially took a 50/50 chance of blowing it without being able to find this information). Would be nice if they supplied the power supply but it clearly stated it is not included. Spins down the disks after 3 minutes which could be seen as annoying, or saving power, but realistically it's not going to make much of a change to my energy bill and potentially just add wear on my hard drive. Can't seem to control the spin down timeout with hdparm, but I can read the SMART data and this does use the uas driver, so happy with this for the price. Just would have been nice to have some control over the spin down timeout.

Bought this to try to have Blu-Ray drive from old desktop as an external drive for the new desktop, that doesn't come with one. Also tried with an SSD drive and HDD both work well. Only issue was extra HDD on new desktop was allocated D: drive letter, so Blu-Ray wasn't recognised. Once I'd given that another drive letter, the Blu-Ray work. I have a docking station for SSD\HDD and this is a much more compact, easy solution. Agree with other comments that the 12v power supply should be part of the package or a UGreen option given, as I have many items from the company that have been good products.

Bought it as another one from a different brand (half of the price of this one) didn't work at all. The good thing about it is that there's a tiny blue led light that indicates activity and power on. Another good thing is the option to add 12v power supply to the adaptor. This is useful for large hard drives and DVD players. Overall quality of the adaptor is very good.

I purchased this as i had enough of using docking stations that can corrupt your USB ports or drivers are messed up ..... I seen this claimed to be driver free and when i plugged it in i did not have " installing drivers " which is great as the more drivers on a pc the more problems . Not much else you can say as it serves its purpose , plug your 2.5" laptop hard drive in and you do not need external power but use 3.5" Hard Drive and you shall need the power supply just as any external hard drive or dock you purchase . One tiny issue if you have a large gaming tower you may need a USB male to female extension ,l the one supplied attached is not that long

I bought this specifically for testing 3.5" HDDs. It requires a separate 12V power supply for them but doesn't come with one. I luckily had a spare one available, but when I connect it, the device disappears from Windows. Drives do spin up, but they are not detected in Windows. Works fine for 2.5" drives that don't require an external PSU

The UGREEN USB to SATA Adapter is an excellent tool with fast USB 3.0 speeds and solid compatibility for SATA I/II/III drives. It works perfectly for 2.5" HDDs/SSDs straight from the USB connection without needing extra power. However, 3.5" HDDs require a 12V charger, which is not included and must be purchased separately. Despite this small inconvenience, it’s durable, easy to use, and a fantastic option for backups, data recovery, or accessing old drives.
