- Alien 3

David Fincher is excellent at killing characters off. Especially the protagonists. As with his other films, Alien 3 is just as underrated. Whenever a sequel is release the average movie audience automatically feels that it should be better than it's predecessor. It's not. Alien 3 is better. Absent is the overuse of firearms because only one round is fired in the whole film. That's new. Also new is the killing off of the annoying Newt character and Hick's is easily removed. The clean slate that Fincher works is refreshing. I enjoyed the dark mood, lack of massive character development, and the straightforward approach to the Jaguar like dog Alien that kills relentlessly within the confines and maze of metal tunnels. The prison population on Fury 161 scrambling to survive and clearly not prepared to understand the Dragon that they are faced to deal with is also refreshing. The cinematography, set design, wardrobe design, the religious underpinnings, editing and sound effects are top notch. The music score is also excellent. I think this film is the best of all the Alien films. I recommend several viewings with the Close Caption feature enabled so that all of the dialog will be understood. The Skinheads In Space are an all star cast that outperformed any Oscar contender. The best part of this film is that David Fincher mocks himself by satirizing it in a scene from Fight Club. Brad Pitt's character Tyler Durden breaks into a video rental store and bulk erases all the Alien 3 copies on the shelf. Fincher has nothing to be ashamed of with this epic. Experience it, or become a traitor and go work for the "Company".

FAVORITE MOVIES EVER

The Assembly Cut, or special edition, version of Alien 3 is the one to watch. It provides better motivation for characters, adds extra dimensions to the film, and is a superior version. That said, Alien 3 is still a very depressing film. Looks great, but nothing good happens to these prisoners, and there is little joviality in the film. I like the slow burn, but it is the antithesis of Aliens. No guns, slow methodical pacing, no soldiers. it's really a character study, with some religion, survivor remorse sprinkled in. The mood is a throwback to the 1st film but with less suspense or horror. It's still a very good film, but don't expect action. This is probably the last good Alien film. 4th was a silly enjoyable action flick but superficial. AVPs were the same and unremarkable. Prometheus and Covenant had the stupidest space people, and CGI action.

It's crazy, I saw this movie in the theaters as a kid, and I always liked it and rewatched it many times, but I only recently discovered (2026) that this Special Edition/Assembly Cut existed. I think it's a better version of the film overall, with the 30 minutes of additional footage. Certain parts make more sense, certain characters get more developed and affect the plot more intensely, and it just in general makes the movie more epic. Afterall, this was originally intended to be the end of the aliens franchise, so it SHOULD be epic! I am also THRILLED that they cut out the queen alien hatching from Ripley's chest as she falls into the furnace -- I always found that part to be sort of cheesy. The only downside to this version is that some of the additional audio is not mastered/mixed properly, so it has some fuzz/dissonance to it when characters deliver those particular lines. If this were not the case, I would give this edition 5 stars.

THIS IS A MUCH MORE COGNITIVE FILM AND A DEEPER EXPLORATION OF RIPLEY AND HER INTERNAL EMOTIONS AND FEELING. CHARLES DANCE, AND ABOVE ALL CHARLES S . DUTTON, STOLE THE SHOW. THESE OTHER SUPPORTING ACTORS, THE INMATES WERE SUPERB.💥⭐️ THIS IS A FINE INTERPRETATION OF THE THIRD FILM IN THE SERIES, VERY STRONG 👍. MANY REVIEWERS NEEDED THEIR ACTION SHOT EVERY SECOND AS IN ALIENS. THIS WAS A MORE COGNITIVE, THINKING PERSON’S MOVIE . OF COURSE THERE IS STILL MORE ACTION THAN IS NECESSARY, BUT EXPLORES RIPLEY AND HER PERSONALITY AND HOW SHE CAME TO BECOME INVOLVED IN THIS BIG MESS. CHARLES DANCE AS THE DOCTOR IS MAGNIFICENT AND CHARLES S. DUTTON, RAN AWAY WITH THE ENTIRE PRODUCTION. YOU MIGHT ENJOY THE SEQUEL TO NUMBER THREE, AS THERE IS MUCH MORE ACTION AND FINALITY COMES TO THE FOUR MOVIES. THE VENUE IN OUR FILM TAKES PLACE ON A SUPER MAX PRISON FACILITY DEEP IN SPACE WHERE RIPLEY AND HER SHIP WAS DRIFTING TOWARDS AND WAS AWAITING PASSAGE BACK TO EARTH. A LITTLE THINKING CAN BE GOOD FOR THE LITTLE GREY CELLS, MON AMI, AS MSSR. HERCULES 👍 POIROT SAYS. BUT, THIS HAS ITS VISCERAL MOMENTS ALSO.

I've seen this movie before and someday I'll watch it again. It might be the worst of the Alien movies, but that still leaves it to be one of the best Sci Fi movies. This movie has action, a real plot, and a certain logic that although not pleasing is realistic within the parameters set for this universe. Weaver does the usual great job as associate producer and protagonist. I recommend this movie. If one hasn't seen it, then one is depriving oneself from a treat unless one hates well done Sci Fi.

Come sempre bel film 😊 sinceramente pensavo peggio, devo dire una cosa che secondo me anche altri utenti mi daranno ragione, ma secondo me i film di James Cameron sono i migliori, il primo alien il personaggio alieno alla fine del film si capiva che aveva una tuta (be dico anche che la tecnologia di quei tempi era molto poca.. quindi gli effetti speciali cosi cosi), il secondo film di alien, l'alieno sembra surreale e quasi assai simile e anche se del 1986 con pochi effetti speciali devo dire che il mostro è impressionante 😉 il terzo alien? Be quando appariva l'alieno nei tunnel si capiva che era fatto forse al computer e che era fatto molto male rispetto al secondo di aliens 2 scontro finale, come sempre amo tutti i film di Alien ma come ho detto se li avrebbe fatti tutti James Cameron avrebbero preso una bella mano (cioè era voglioso a guardarlo il film 😅) detto questo Alien 3 in versione bluray posso dire che secondo me non è un vero bluray ma solo il dvd trasportato sul bluray.. però dico che si vede abbastanza bene (ma mai come i primi due film) 😉 l'audio? Be non ha senso fare un bluray e non mettere l'audio in HD.. e come avere una Fiat però con le ruote della Ferrari ahaha 😅 si l'audio era tipo caverna e non era ben pulito.. forse dirò una cavolata ma dipende anche da come hanno tenuto il rullino del film in tutti questi anni, cioè in che stato e come lo hanno tenuto, magari il video o audio *audio non credo* magari una ri-riconversazione per quello si sente tipo caverna.. potrebbe essersi deteriorato il nastro *rullino* vabe vabe bei film di Alien chi più e chi meno ma pur sempre OTTIMI 😉 comprateli.

Io li adoro tutti e 4 i movies di questa saga anche se il primo, quello girato da Ridley Scott è sicuramente irripetibile. Ma la performance di Sigourney Weaver rende ogni capitolo di questa saga pur sempre un movie notevole. Adoro le l'interpretazione di quest'attrice favolosa in ogni Alien. Il supporto ottico, Blu-Ray, è eccellente per la parte video. L'audio in italiano è DTS mentre la risoluzione d'immagine conferiscono a queste pellicole datate una netta precisione che rende i particolari con grande immediatezza. Sono ben convertiti in alta definizione, ci sono film più recenti che non hanno la stessa resa, soprattutto visiva con la grande profondità che ha Alien. Nel Blu-Ray avrete la possibilità di scegliere quale versione vedere: quella cinematografica dell'anno di uscita oppure la versione rifatta diversi anni dopo, per la special edition, sempre in HD. Potete vederle entrambe. Una saga imperdibile per gli amanti del genere sci-fi. E per chi lo ha giù visto, in questo formato Blu-Ray, vi sembrerà di vederlo per la prima volta.
