Tough-1 Freedom Muzzle w/ Nylon Headstall - Horse

I was skeptical about using this item after getting a good look at the design. I was also somewhat desperate to try something to control my mares cribbing and fast eating habit. The reason for my concern was the risk of the "muzzle cage" getting hung on something and creating a bigger issue. Well, after letting my mare use it for a day while I was around to watch, I thought it was going to be OK. However, it was about a week later, she managed to get her front hoof stuck through the muzzle cage and the neck strap was still over her neck. So, her head and neck were held down to knee level, and she could not raise her head. Thank goodness she was smart enough to not kill herself. Fortunately I was around most of the day and she could not have been in that predicament for more than 3 hrs. at most...but still ;-( My husband used bolt cutters to cut the muzzle cage off of her leg. Since the muzzle cage was fitted close against her muzzle, it beats the heck out of me what she did, other than blatantly try to remove it with her hoof, and then got her hoof stuck through it in the process. A break-away head strap would be an improvement. End result of my experience with this item: It is not worth the risk to try this item.

My husband got a new horse and he loves to chew on everything! This muzzle works great. The horse can drink and even eat with it on. I’m real happy with the way he accepted the muzzle. We don’t leave it on the horse all the time, just the days he is chewing stuff up. He has good days and bad days.

Very disappointed. Ordered horse size and it is HUGE and heavy. Sizing info says Large is for large breeds & drafts but it is ridiculously large.

Velcro sides make this come off very easy. Almost needs buckets. I ordered a regular horse and it is big on my horse chin strap hangs almost as long as the muzzle and does not fit like the picture. Muzzle portion is heavy duty but doesn’t do much good if they can pull it off easily.

The muzzle came and looked too large. It does fit my thoroughbred and does prevent him from cribbing and biting other horses. Within a few days, it rubbed his temples raw. I fixed that by putting halter tubes on it. At this point, I no longer use it. It places quite a bit of pressure on the top of his nose and is making him head shy.

Zero stars. Terrible product with no reseanable return policy. Thoroughbred Express Tack Sales in Warren Ohio will not refund your purchase unless in original packaging and unused. I ordered the Tough One Equine muzzle (3 of them) thinking they would keep horses from chewing trees. Nope, they have velcro to keep the dumb thing on, and the horses get them off within minutes. Super unhappy and will NEVER BUY ANYTHiNG FROM THOROUGHBRED EXPRESS TACK SALES ever again. Zero customer service. Worst experience I have ever had purchasing through Amazon. Amazon, please take notice!!

Good quality I really recommend it

Bought for a horse that cribs/ wind sucks. It fit well, just seemed pretty heavy to wear more than a few hours a day. I think it would have caused a sore nose from pressure.
