Compact Short Bent Gouge K8a/14

Great for small bowls

Seems to work well. I carve dry wood so takes a bit of effort, but the tool is shard and well shaped for my purposes. Handle is a bit small for my hand, but that is minor inconvenience.

This came in already dull, but luckily my sharpener came today as well so I got to use it. The tool itself works great when sharper

I love it. It works great on my spoon carvings and other carvings.

Did not seem sharp. While I knew the size I was buying…the tool should be longer and have a better bend for cutting leverage.

Received on time. Have a few of this brand works great is very sharp and holds a good edge.

I've had this gouge for about 2 years. I've sharpened it a few times and honed it as per all my other chisels and gouges. I'm not a rookie at this. The center of this gouge just broke off right in the middle. The chip is about a 16th of an inch deep by about 1/16 of an inch wide (see photos). All I can say is it's got to be bad steel. It was on a piece of basswood for a shallow scoop spoon, again, I've done this cut thousands of times, no undue stress on the gouge blade at all. Unfortunately now I have to look elsewhere for future gouge and chisel purchases cuz I no longer trust Beaver craft.

i like the shape. looks really effective. which is why i bought it. but it comes quite dull. wasn't able to carve out even some soft pine. might be effective after sharpening. but sharpening a gouge is a tricky job in itself. if you're looking to start carving right out of the box, maybe try elsewhere.

Bonne gouge, de bonne qualité, mérite de finir l'affûtage mais utilisable quand même dès la réception. Je recommande a ceux qui commence la sculpture

Flimsy thing. I will bend by looking at it incorrectly.
