Ordered this cable to use with INPA and it works without any issue. Has the switch on the cable which most online instructions say is needed. No complaints here.

No Drivers Included
Even though the listing states it comes with the driver software, no software is included. The URL and QR code in the 2-page leaflet point to a non-existent website. Without the drivers, the hardware cannot be recognized by the scanner application.

Notes to make it work on BMW ISTA
I had to manually change a setting in Windows 10 Device Manager to make this work properly with ISTA on my laptop. Before doing this, the cable would let me connect with ISTA, but it was erratic and it was having trouble communicating with specific modules such as the VTG to re-calibrate the transfer case in my E70. Here is what made it work for me: Open Windows Device Manager, Open the 'Ports (Com & LPT)' and locate the device in the list -- mine was called 'USB Serial Port (Com 9)' -- and view it's properties, click the 'Port Settings' tab, click 'Advanced', then change the 'Latency Timer' setting to '1'. After making this change I was able to restart ISTA and successfully perform functions.

From what I understand, some 2007+ cars require pin 7 and 8 to be bridged together for this connector to work. This cable comes with a 4-way jumper that allows to enable or disable the feature. I couldn't figure out why it was a 4 position switch so I took it apart to see what was up. Am I glad I did! First of all, the positions are as follow: 1: Pins 7-8 jumped, 2: disabled, 3: disabled, 4: disabled. The workmanship is so poor, I expect this involved child labor. The wires were overstripped, had incredible tension at soldering points and I can tell there was no flux involved, it's just a dab of solder and call it a day sort of thing. They even managed to pinch one of the wires while putting it back together, making it a high risk of shorting on the circuit board or just breaking away and then shorting. Don't expect me to use this to code ANY car, let alone a BMW. I pulled some readings on a 2007 328XI so it does work, but I don't think it will last very long and won't take any chances until I fix the butchering job that was done upon the modification. So in summary, the connector is fine, it works as it should. But the modification is a disaster waiting to happen. The CD includes most known softwares, but I'd rather grab the install pack online. Don't forget to set your connector to COM1 and Timer latency to 1 in your device manager.
