66010 Loctite Retaining Compound, QuickMetal(R), 6mLTube, Silver

This was recommended to me! I have a lawnmower deck right angle gear drive that chewed up eight ball bearings and the outer race and the aluminum casting seat are wallowed out, The part is not available anywhere, I mean, I did find two places that had it and one was 600 bucks and one was 500 bucks and I didn’t want to spend that much money on of 15 year old lawnmower not knowing how much life is left in it so I thought I just buy the bearings even though that seat in the casting is wallowed out I was recommended to use Loctite 660, I messed up and put the wrong bearing in the wrong hole and then was told if I soaked in an acetone long enough would come loose but it never did! For months! Eventually it dawned on me I could use a gear puller and I was able to get the bearing out. I honestly have no idea if this concept will end up being fruitful, little worried that the tremendous forces between the outer bearing race and the aluminum seat it’s just going to smash the Loctite but I thought I’d give this a try and see if I can get a couple more years out of this gearbox, at a gigantic Lee less expensive price than purchasing a new gearbox.

I used this compound to prevent a circular clamp from slipping on a bicycle wheel hub. For anyone interested it’s a motorized bicycle hub adapter. Previously, although I tightened the adapter very well, it kept slipping and breaking the spokes on my wheel. So I ordered this and applied a thin layer on both surfaces before I reassembled the adapter. I waited 24 hours before applying any force to the adapter. 3 weeks later and it hasn’t slipped one millimeter! A little goes a long way so even though it is a small tube it will last you a while.

I had a slightly oversized bearing seat in a hard-to-access location in a machine tool. Loctite 660 did take several days to fully set, but after reading reviews I was prepared for that. Loctite also sells activator/accelerators for this product, but for a one-off use, waiting was my preferred solution. At eight bucks for a tiny tube Loctite 660 isn't cheap, but it saved me a $190 dollar repair part.

This product works exactly as advertised. Will tighten up an otherwise loose push fit bearing. It also has the advantage of being able to be disassembled without adding heat.

Used it to repair the crank on my short nosed crank Miata MX5. Works well and is holding

strong stuff, used to repair brushless motor rotor. reglued magnets onto rotor. not been able to field test but bench test it's held up!!.

Product was used to repair a keyway and get the woodruff key to hold in place. It's worked for now!!
