Uni Alpha-Gel Shaker Mechanical Pencil 0.5mm Soft Grip, Rose Pink (M5617GG1P.66)

A perfect mechanical pencil, if you are a student. The Shaker mechanism is SO SO helpful when you're taking running notes. The gel grip makes it so easy to write without my fingers hurting!! The only problem is that it takes a month to arrive, that's why the four stars. Otherwise, it's my new favourite and definitely an essential! 💫

I specifically bought this pencil because the description said the lead was pink. That is not true. The pencil is great but the lead is not pink as advertised, it's a normal grey lead. Really disappointing.

I bought this pencil for my 14yr old daughter, it has a nice squishy grip and the shaker feature is so cool!! As my daughter says, "everything that comes out of Japan is better"...while im not sure if I agree with that statement, this is one amazing pencil :-) My biggest concern was that this pencil would advance with random shaking(such as in a purse or pocket), however, that is not a concern as the pencil must be "engaged" to shake out lead. Basically it is much like a ballpoint pen with a clicker on the top, click it and now you are free to shake away to advance the lead, click it again and now the shaker is disabled(you push the lead back in while holding down the clicker too). Now, for me, this pencil is "too squishy," it causes me to grip too hard and get hand cramps(same as I do with a standard sized pencil/pen-because I have lupus with a neuro issues that manifests similar to arthritic hands), so for myself, I will stick to Dr Grip(I have also ordered this pencil with a "hard grip" for myself and will review that when it arrives-I am a sucker for gadgets ;-)) For my 14yr old, she loves the squishy(and I wouldve too 10yrs ago), it is like writing with a gummy bear...literally!! She loves that when she is drawing or writing for an wxtended period of time it doesnt leave "dents" on her fingers and I am guessing it will reduce the callouses on her fingers in time. The packaging and instructions on the pen I received were written 100% in Japanese, so to add more lead, simply remove the eraser and drop it in, done. You can also obviously replace the extremely small eraser, thank goodness(I guess they dont make many mistakes in Japan ;-)) overall a fun but practical pencil that makes writing more enjoyable, but not for folks with arthritic hands(but I cant remove any stars for that, its a small market ;-)), the ONLY drawback is the size of the eraser, but since it is replaceable, its not a big deal and is made up for by the "cool factor"(at least for my daughter).

Took ages to arrive and when it did it didn't work - straight in the bin. Don't waste your money.
