Strong pump, nice gauges.
Decided to install mini split in our fifth wheel and need a vacuum pump to do it. This pump was straightforward and had plenty of power, definitely felt solid and of good quality. The gauges worked as the should and my first mini split install was a complete success! I can definitely recommend this product!

Works great, nice kit, additional purchase required if using on a mini split install.
DOES NOT INCLUDE 5/16 MINI SPLIT ADAPTERThis kit is GREAT and works very well for a fantastic price. The gauges are clear and easy to read. The hoses are high quality, as are the included adapters. I can't comment on the r134a puncture valve, I haven't tried that just yet. It's pretty quiet, it's not the fastest at 3cfm but for something like a mini split or home AC it's more than fast enough. I let it run until all indication of air in the line stops (bubbles or burbling sounds) and then an extra 5 mins to make sure. Easy squeezy and for the price, I don't know that you can beat it--even at Hazard Fraught. As someone else said, the little cap for the oil port is very easy to lose...but whatever.I bought this to install a TOSOT 18,000 BTU Mini-Split, but you could use it for anything needing vacuum. The video I followed to install my unit suggested this vacuum pump and indicated it included "all gauges and adapters", and this turned out to be incorrect. My ONLY beef with this item is that, as far as I can tell, NOWHERE does it list what size adapters are included. I wish that I could tell you what they ARE, but I can't, I don't know. I know that the standard mini-split 5/16" is NOT in the box.5/16 Inch Female Quick Coupler to 1/4 Inch Male Flare is the adapter you'll need for a mini split. There are lots of options, the one I ordered was $7 and came in two days and fit perfectly. Pulled to -30 psi in seconds and cleared the lines totally within 5 or so minutes, then I let it run for a total of almost 20 minutes.

No great quality control, but got the job done
I was concerned when buying this kit due to the negative comments. Especially, the comments where people had problems pulling a 30 HG vacuum, suggesting the pump was not powerful enough. After a bit of research, I decided that the pump should be able to pull the required vacuum, so I gave it a go.When setting up the system, I realized two quality control issues. First, the high-side (red) hose was missing it's rubber insert. I found that out the hard way, by watching the system leak down to zero after pulling a vacuum. Fortunately, the kit came with 3 extra inserts, which fixed that problem. Second, the can-tap fitting has different threads than the yellow hose. You literally cannot connect the hose to the can-tap fitting. That crisis was averted as the kit comes with a few extra fittings that can serve as adapters, but they have Schrader valves in them (I think they are for systems with a different refrigerant type). I removed the Schrader valve from one of them and used it as an adapter -- it worked (I think someone put the wrong can-tap valve in the box).I was able to pull a vacuum without issue. Within 60 seconds, or so, I was at 29 to 30 HG. After letting the system sit, confirming no leaks, I ran the pump for 45 minutes to extract any moisture. The pump did great and held the system at 29-30 HG (for those who want to know, my location was at 750' altitude, 50 degrees F, 51% humidity, and 30.22 HG air pressure). The pump smoked a little at the start, but ran clean after that. I was successful in doing a full recharge.Even though there were quality control issues, I still gave this product 5 stars as the price was fantastic considering the tool's purpose, it was easy to use, and it was able to get the job done.

Perfect for mini split install.
After watching a long list of mini split installs..one of them had this pump as part of their links..I never installed a mini split before and this pump has worked perfectly for my install and I will use it for future installs. For the price this was perfect. The storage bag is a perfect addition. Bag feels very durable as well as the pump and gages.

Worked like a charm!
I am not mechanic, but I do tinker with tools. Between a few You Tube Videos to build my confidence, this unit worked like a charm.

Read this and then think twice!
I don't write a lot of reviews, but in this case...I purchased this pump to install a mini split unit and had it for a couple of months before I had the chance to open it and use it. The first thing I noticed was oil had leaked all over the inside of the vacuum package. It appeared to be new, so I figured that maybe it got flipped upside down or something in transit. Since I needed it, I hooked up everything, filled it the rest of the way with oil (it shipped with some already in the housing) and turned it on. While it pulled a vacuum, it leaked all around the seal between the motor and the housing (on both sides). In the half hour or so it took to pull the vacuum, it leaked almost an entire tank of oil. It made a huge mess.I wasn't expecting a professional tool, but I would have expected enough quality and durability to be more than a one and done application. I checked all 4 bolts on the housing and they were tight. There is no way this thing was inspected and/or tested without seeing the leak. You can literally wipe it off and watch it seep from the seems even with it turned off. Buyer be warned, either test it immediately when you buy it, or skip it all together. I had expected better based on the reviews I'd read.
