This is a must-have tool. Very clever and well-thought-out design. It worked perfectly for cutting the opening for a light fixture and made the job quick and clean. The plastic guide pieces are especially smart—I only wish it were possible to order those separately and reuse the saw, because that would make this even better. Overall, this is a great product and absolutely worth it. Highly recommend.

These are amazing for knpcking out old bakelite round boxes and replacing them with something beefier. Much beefier. Super easy to install with impact. Everythings gotta be fan rated these days

I had an existing old plastic box shatter and needed a replacement that could fit within the existing hole in the ceiling. This box was excellent quality, the screws were a little difficult to drill into the joist but the end result was excellent. No trimming of the existing hole was necessary.

I recently purchased a small shop to work on cars in. The shop is about 45 minutes from my house, so I wanted to add in a little apartment in the event I decided to work late. The existing shop had boxes that I have been using inside the living area, but I needed stronger boxes for the shop. That is where these come in. Pros: - Durability: These things are quality boxes. The difference between these and the blue, nail in kind is like night and day. These will hold up very well in a shop environment. - Ease of Use in Tight Spaces: Unlike the nail in type where you need sapce to hammer in the nails, these can fit in existing walls very easily. Just cut the drywall (or whatever material you have for your wall) slightly smaller than the box so it holds it in place, then screw it into the stud. - Marked location for wires: The wire pass throughs are marked for 12 or 14 guage wire, with an offset for each. Not something necessary, but it was a nice touch. Cons: - I found it difficult to get the box to stay in place while I screwed it in. The screws want to pull the box back. When trying to use these on open walls, you'll need to really hold it in place. It would be nice to have a set of teeth on the side against the stud to hold it in place. - Pass-throughs: These are the kind that you can press a wire in and have it lock in place. This is nice to keep it in while you are wiring, but I'm not a fan of these. They are hard to use and even harder to push excess length back in. They were also very hard to snap off if you wanted to remove them - Price: If these are not on sale or marked down, the $9 price is a pricier than going with the hammer on style. I got mine at around$2.50 ea, which was good pricing. This is also true if you are not needing anything too strong. - Useage: These are made for wood studs. If you need something that attaches to other material or do not have access to the stud, these are not for you. For my shop project, these work great! I know these are strong enough to withstand the constant use and potential hits that you find in a shop environment without breaking. I'd probably use these for walls that I'd have to cut sheetrock as well. This is a good buy in my opinion.

Fould the product work as it was intended for. Very strong plastic with metal reinforcement. Had no problem holding a 52" ceiling fan.

Sturdier mount than other surface mount boxes I have used -- just need to be next to a stud -- much much better for outlets. Some internal space given up for the mounting, but I will definitely use these again for existing work additions.

Great product, makes changing from 1 gang to 2 gang so simple.

a fantastic economical solution that works perfectly and is very well built. Concerning the negative reviews, specifically the ones where they included the picture of all the teeth being worn down. Im going to go on the limb and say, those individuals have no business installing this thing.. If they are that unfamiliar with a simple pressure and time application to the point that it completely wears down the teeth.... They should just hire someone that has at least recently graduated from grade school.

These worked exactly as advertised. I had great success going through 1/2 drywall. The cutters do wear as they cut but as long as you go slow with proper pressure it’s works perfectly. Will buy this style anytime I need

I was ready to give this a great review as installing the box into the wall was easy and there is tons of room in the box. The problems for me started when I started to install switches and an outlet. The outlet is old but the switches were new. When installing the outlet into the box a screw head snapped off. Initially I thought it was just an old screw but then one of the new screws also snapped. I realized that the holes were not drilled deep enough so the screws bottomed out. I was able to get one out but the other was too deep inside the hole. I managed to drill out and use a larger screw temporarily but now I need to rip everything apart and start again. If you get this test the holes before installing and drill out if needed. Update: Ended up ordering another one as I can't find anything similar. Tested all the holes and they were all fine so guess I just had a bad one the first time round.
