Cheeky Chicks Large Recycled Solid Oak Whisky Cask Rustic Planter for Garden

I don't often leave reviews but on this occasion I believe it is necessary. These are beyond wonderful products..they are lovely and big, just perfect for my needs..they look Beautiful, so authentic , so gorgeous ..Honestly in comparison to what I could buy in the shops these are far far superior..and they are heavy and I know they will last the test of time. May I also add that I asked for drainage holes to be pre-drilled in them as I am using them as planters, the customer service I recieved was above and beyond...I spoke with a gentleman a few times about my requirements, and he was always speedy to reply, and couldn't of been more helpful in doing all I needed.. Thanks again Hector..! I highly recommend these beautiful barrel...for whatever you want to use them for..And I will be returning for more in the near future..! Fabulous..just Fabulous.!!

Very pleased with this half barrel. Very heavy and looks great with my Pieris. I agree with another review, where the barrel has been sawed in half, it is rough and very easy to get splinters in your hands. But very easy to remedy, by sanding which takes only minutes and absolutely worth it. Highly recommended

I bought this as I wanted to make a small wildlife pond in the garden, initially I wondered if this had holes in it or not, the seller did tell me that it depends on which half of the barrel you get, and to message them when placing the order to specify, I did message them after placing my order but still received one with a hole in it, so bare that in mind if you wanted one that's watertight, but anyway I used a pond liner so this point is null. The saw cut isn't as clean as I'd like, quite rough and splinters galore, but easily sanded down. The metal bands were also covered in thick rust, which again is personal preference but just putting it out there, because you may want the old rustic look or you might want one without rust. I ended up sanding mine down to bare wood so that I could stain it with a wood stain I bought to match my oak table and chairs, also decided to sand away the rust from the metal. Overall it's very sturdy, and comes in a nice rustic style that fits many gardens for planters or ponds. I've only removed a star for the rust, saw cut and not receiving one without a hole. The inside is charred and smells heavily of whisky which is quite nice, however if using for a pond like me, recommend a liner as now seeing it in person, probably not suitable for wildlife unless you want drunk birds and frogs.

I'd been searching for a half barrel to use as a water feature /pond for a while. The ones in garden centres and shops were in terrible condition and would never be able to hold water. They were dried out with huge gaps and holes in them. In short they were a waste of money. So it was with very little confidence that I ordered one from this seller. I emailed them to ask if I could have one without a hole in it (for my waterfeature/pond. I was pleasantly surprised to have an immediate reply to say that would be okay. My half barrel arrived in perfect condition with no holes and no leaks. I know that, as I filled it up with water as soon as I got it out of its protective wrapping. It hasn't leaked at all. I now have pond plants in it with a small pond pump giving a fountain effect and it looks fantastic. It's definitely worth the money. I'm thinking of buying another if I can make the space for it.

Well I purchased this last year and put a plum tree in it. Well what a waste of money. There are gaps between the slats already - not sure how much longer it'll last. No drainage holes but slats have parted so they will sort that out lol. Not value for money unfortunately, but looks good from a distance. I apologise to the people that sold it, you were obviously caught out by your seller.

You should know, that these are not rustic, but literally old, rusty barrels. You have to restore them. Those nice pictures others uploaded are after restoration. Also, there are no drainage holes. I can imagine it will work after I drill holes, remove dust, paint the metal bands and the wood as well. But this is not how it is advertised. So for the price not getting what is described is just poor customer service. Also metal bands are not just old and rusty, but they are falling off as they are old and rusty. I will try to make it work, but overall not happy.
