20-400 Oil Filter

I've just started using the RP 20-400 instead of a Motorcraft FL-400S on my 1998 Mercury Tracer. This RP oil filter is about 3/4 inch longer than the Motorcraft FL-400S and uses a 76mm/14-poimt cap wrench. I wrench-tightened the RP 3/4 of a turn after engine contact and did not get a leak, A lot of folks prefer to hand tighten only, but a 3/4 turn works for me. I'm using Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5W30 with this filter. I put about 400 very short trip miles each year on my Tracer and change my oil pre/post winter driving. This appears to be a well-built and heavy duty filter.

Really great product and a true heavy weight among other products. I have never weighed my oil filter but it definitely feels 'beefier' My Royal Purple oil always comes out relatively clean looking when I change it. Don't be on the fence when it comes to changing your oil, if you are going to spend the time in doing your own maintenance then go ahead and spend the money in buying a good filter.

This filter is excellent in design and filters down to the smallest micron. I highly recommend when used with royal purple oil.

I used this for my 2002 Ford Focus SVT and have always loved royal purple filters and I noticed when I use to use motorcraft oil filter the oil would get “dirty” or “old” quickly and with royal purple oil filter it’s lasting a lot longer

I love Royal Purple products. This filter must have a very large surface area on the inside because my truck now takes a full 5 quarts of oil instead of 4.5 quarts. I use RP oil and change it every 7 to 8k miles (not the 15k the bottle says, although I'm sure I could if I wanted). I'm very happy with the quality and also with the fact that I don't have to change the oil as much (getting older).

Finally a product that does what it says and says what it does it works mile after mile doing its job

The Royal Purple filter is one of the most efficient automotive filters on the market. I spent my whole career in industrial hydraulic systems and the top hydraulic filters always used the fiberglass mat as the filter media. The heavy duty construction is a great additional feature. Having been using them for years and would never use anything else. I would recommend anyone considering this filter to watch the video on the Royal Purple website.

Im at 13,600 miles on this filter and Royal purple HPS(and some cheap valvoline for last minute low oil fill up). About to change soon and only thing is my oil pressure drops dangerously low at idle sometimes.....so I do not recommend going much farther than this(I suspect its REALLY full). Great filter though and definitely wouldnt dare try this with any other brand!

I mainly use Royal Purple oil and filters on all my vehicules because the quality is there. This is simply engine goodies.

Very good quality filter, K&N and Royal Purple are best filter out there.
