Tuffy Security Products – Overhead Console for Jeep Wrangler CJ, YJ, and TJ (1976–2002) | Locking, Heavy-Duty Steel Storage

Installed on my 2015 Jeep Rubicon. Fits just great and did not take as long to install as I thought it would. Had one on my 2004 Jeep Rubicon and had to have one on the 2015. Already had the L Plate for the back and had to drill 3 holes on the top front to bolt to the Windshield frame. Used Threaded Rivet Nut Inserts for all mounting locations It's not going anywhere. With $10 extra parts from Tuffy they could sell a lot more overhead Compartments for all the TJ and JK Jeeps. I like two compartments for my Scanner and CB Radio. Would take a lot off work to take the Radios out of the Jeep...I could not be more happy with this Console. Hope this helps someone who wants more than one compartment in the TJ or JK.

not a perfect for of the 04 jeep. but, with some modifications still got it to fit .

I have a 1997 Jeep TJ and I installed this so I could keep my radio and tiltmeter out of the way when I didn't need them. This thing is built like a tank. The only negative I have is that the locking mech does not work super well. The drop down shelves have to be just in the right position for it to lock. I will keep using this and see if that changes over time. All in all if youre a jeep person and youre looking for someplace to put your radio that is overhead I would look here. Shipping was quick and like I said built like a tank.

There are so many faults to this I don't know where to start. Unless you have a compact CB don't bother. Every "regular/standard" size CB radio is too big. You can manage to get it into the slot only to find they provided no way to mount it no matter what size radio your installing. Then you look closer and your mic connection sticks out the front of the opening so you cannot close and lock the compartment. The hole they provide to stick the mic cord through is under the radio and leaves you NO way to connect it. WHAT MORONS! THIS IS CRIMINAL STUPIDITY! Now go back and enlarge the pic - the CB is there but the mic cord is not connected. They knew they had a problem and still sell this piece of crap. The only reason I gave it a 1 star is because it would not allow me to go lower.

Okay, three stars because of a couple of things. I have a '77 CJ7 and have the Tuffy overhead console, Tuffy center console, and Tuffy glove compartment. The overhead (two compartment) was installed in '04. The center console and glove compartment in '14. The stuff truly is tough as hell but to install a CD player (head unit) takes some doing because no hardware comes with the box and Tuffy leaves the creativity all to the owner. (Which isn't a problem for 'most' Jeepers, especially CJ owners, just know that this is what it is. You will do some innovative thinking and cursing no matter what you decide to install in this thing.) My major complaint, and this applies to all three of the Tuffy products, is the finish. I don't know if it's the steel, the paint, or both, but I had to remove the overhead console it rusted so badly (which is a MAJOR pain if you properly install a stereo with loom running to four speakers and a sub. Last week, I removed the center console for the same reason after three years. This stuff costs too much for Tuffy to use such a sub-par finish. (The paint job on the center console was lousy.) For those of you thinking, 'Well, it's a Jeep.' That's more reason for Tuffy to put a few more bucks into their paints and/or steel. They know their product is going to see the worst that Mother Nature can dish out. Blast whatever you buy down to the metal, prime well and paint, or powder coat, or it will come back to haunt you.

After four hours of torn knuckles and throwing tools around in frustration, i'm finally done with installing my Tuffy Overhead Console. The Console is definitely the kind of built quality you would expect from Tuffy, but the instructions are confusing as hell. Having two people would definitely help. They really need to make a step by step youtube instructional video to guide you through it.
