Better than original Dewalt battery
I have bought one of these batteries after 4Ah Ni-MH replacement from Vanon proved to be too good to be true. You can find a separate negative review on this fake battery on Amazon. This Li-Ion battery however is very different. It is constructed out of 10 cells (18650 size, 3.6 V) and has a circuit board on top of cells to provide safety and charging capabilities in a regular Dewalt Ni-Cd charger. The fit of the battery to the tool and charger is excellent. Battery weighs 647 g, the original Dewalt Ni-Cd one weighs 1072 g. Battery came half-charged, but provided very good power even in that condition. Charging in the original Dewalt Ni-Cd charger DW9116 did not present any problems. The test discharge cycle at around 1A current load lasted 4 hours - until battery voltage dropped to 15V (or 3V per cell). This translates to 4Ah capacity, not 5Ah as advertized. I did only one discharge test, so I cannot say my result is 100% correct, bit it is much better than original Dewalt XRP battery at 2.4Ah and light years ahead of available Ni-MH replacements. This battery charge will last a long time.Charging a fully discharged battery took about 2 hours. The charger stopped the cycle while battery was on its 4th light blinking. The battery was not fully charged and measured 19.88 V. Pushing the battery test button lights up all 4 lights, but fully charged battery is at 20.3 V. Removing battery from charger and putting it back will put additional charge in the battery until battery circuit will cut it off.If you want your Li-ion battery to last, do not keep it fully charged or discharged for a long time. It would be most happy stored at about 50% charge. Charge it just before you need to use it. So far the battery looks and performs very well, but time will tell the full story.P.S. It is October 2021 now and I have used the battery quite a few times. The performance is still very good and I like the fact that battery does not loose its charge in between uses. It looks like I made a good choice buying this battery and keeping my old 18V drill.

Better than the original
Lighter than the original and lasts longer. Battery died after 10 months not working the tool but appearing charged. Contacted product support and received a new battery within days. Very happy with product.

Good value
I have used it once and it seemed to take a charge well. Working ok. It is much lighter than the old original Dewalt. But for the cost and for how much I use it. Seems OK.

Great Replacement for Dewalt cordless tools
Bought these as replacements for Dewalt cordless tools. Work great.

UPDATED: Failed in 5 minutes (REPLACEMENT ALSO FAILED)
I charged this battery overnight in the recommended DW9116 charger - that seemed to work OK (though the battery has to be forced down a bit to seat in the charger). Installed the battery in my Dewalt reciprocating saw, and it worked great for 5 minutes of intermittent use, and then failed completely. The LED display on the battery still shows a full charge, but the saw won't run (it does run fine with an old battery, so the saw is not the problem). When the battery is inserted in the charger, the red charger light does not come on, so it does not even sense the battery. So instead of working on my project, I am wasting my time packing this product up for a return. Can't recommend it, though due to many good reviews I am (foolishly?) opting for a replacement rather than a refund.UPDATE: Yes, it turned out to be foolish to accept a replacement instead of a refund. It took a bit longer for the replacement to fail, but only because I did not use it much at first. I might have gotten 10 minutes use from the replacement. Failure mode is similar to the first one. We are all trying to find a viable alternative to the overpriced OEM batteries, but if you value your time and sanity I suggest you avoid this product.

Second one of these. This one is great!
This is my second one of these batteries. The first one has lots of power -- WAY more than the original DeWalt ones. It runs my sawzall and circular saw longer than I've ever needed it to run for one task, where the original batts would hardly ever complete a task without a recharge. Not only to they run way longer, but the tools deliver way better performance. Most of my dozen-or-so 18-volt DeWalt tools are over 15 years old and now they run stronger and longer than when new.So the first battery (two years old now) has an annoying problem. It loses electrical contact with the tool and has to be "slapped" back into the tool frequently during use. I adjusted the contacts and tried other tricks but the battery just didn't latch tightly enough (I guess) in those particular tools. The new battery has all the plusses of the old one and never loses contact. So they've improved the latches somehow, and the battery installs and releases easier, too.Highly recommended batteries!!
