This is a fantastic (almost mandatory) accessory for the G7X Mark II
If you've been doing your research on the G7X Mark II it's one of the top compact cameras in its class. Your research probably also indicates that its fatal flaw is the fragility of the lens cover blades and its susceptibility of getting dust under the lens. As such, lens protection is pretty much mandatory. There are three ways to get this protection. The first, is a cheap lens cap. However, a lens cap interferes with the lens motor if you're like me and don't always remember to take the lens cap off before powering the camera on. The camera will notice the obstruction when operating the camera motor and shut itself off. I don't think this is good for the lens motor and it also leaves your lens vulnerable while shooting. The second, is a magnetic filter attachment. It's great because it doesn't impede the lens extension, keeps protecting the camera during operation, and gives you the nifty option of using various filters. However, magnets are susceptible to bumps and contact; sometimes knocking them off completely. This Lensmate adapter is held on by adhesive and it's rather strong (although I haven't tried removing it). Standard 52mm filters fit easily over it (you can even stack filters if you wish). It really is the best option. It even comes with a snap-in lens cover. I wish I had read that earlier ... I bought one in the same order as this product. The only cons about adding filters and lens caps is that it makes the camera lens protrude out farther from the body. However, that's to be expected, unavoidable, and not a downfall of the product itself.

This is a very good idea for cameras without filter thread
This is a very good idea for cameras without filter thread. The adapter is a bid pricey but it works well on my Canon G5X and it actually makes the camera look nicer. There was no instruction enclosed, but installation is not difficult. My little complaint is the two rings ( one sticked to the lens housing, one installed with a filter) don’t attach together firmly. There is quite a bid of play when I put them together. There is no problem of them being separated by themselves, just a bid annoying to feel the filter moving. Over all, the adapter gives the lens better protection and adds the flexibility to use different filters. Great job!

IDEAL FIX FOR THE CANON G7X
I am very satisfied with my purchase, it fits my camera perfectly and it does not prohibit the lens from its functions neither does it give any shadows in corners compared to the mag filter I have seen which is an absolute PLUS!! It does the job to attach a 52mm lens precisely which allows me to protect my canon g7x mII lens from dust and it even came with a lens cap, a cloth to wipe and a adpater remover so it is easy to remove.... what I also loved was the fact that they sent me a hard copy invoice as well. I would recommend I will be uploading a video to my youtube channel soon of how it fits and how I applied it on you can check it out dependant on when you are reading this review the channel name is Ashawnya.

Works very well and installation is very easy. Reason for the 3 rating is that the ...
Purchased this filter adapter to cover front of lens barrel to prevent dirt from getting behind the leaf shutter cover. This has been a problem on G series cameras for several years. This adapter enables the installation of a 52 mm filter to do the actual protection. Works very well and installation is very easy. Reason for the 3 rating is that the filter adapter increases the size of the camera somewhat.

Awesome filter adapter for the Canon G7X Mark ii
This little adapter is a ROCK STAR for adding filters to my Canon G7X Mark ii. Make sure to buy 52mm filters to fit this adapter. This thing is a lifesaver. It's built well and I love the quick-disconnect feature so you can take it off quick without having to unscrew filters. It's low-profile to the camera, so even with a filter installed, the camera will fit in cases that are designed to fit this camera. Having a filter on your G7X also helps keep dust out of the telescoping lens mechanism and from getting behind your lens. So far, so good. A bonus is that you get a center squeeze lens cap with this kit. You can only put the lens cap on a 52mm filter that has threading on the front.

Good lens cover, might be useful even if you don't use filters to keep the lens clean
I bought this for two reasons. First, I wanted to use a polarizing filter on the camera and this was the only way I found to mount one and that feature works just fine. I was a little concerned about having to mount a ring to the camera with tape but that was not a problem and I can't even conceive of how it might be once I did it. You get a little round dodad that helps you center the mounting attachment on the lens frame The second reason I bought it was that the lens protecting external shutter over the lens was intermittent on my camera. Not enough so that I wanted to return it for warranty work, but enough that I was concerned about finding another way to protect the lens and this solved that problem. Interestingly, the shutter now works just fine, closes every time completely when I turn the camera off. I think this adapter with it's own lens cover is a big help keeping dust off the shutter mechanism.

A smart solution, except that it the bayonet unmounts almost too easily.
Works nicely, except that the filter/mount assembly is easily dislodged from the camera half of the bayonet system. IMPORTANT: I'm saying that the bayonet system disconnects very easily. I'm NOT saying that the part that sticks to the camera comes unstuck. It seems nicely attached when used as instructed. When rotating a polarizer, go only one way, as the other way will probably unmount the filter. And when not actually using the filter, remove it from the camera, as it is just as easily dislodged accidentally from a camera dangling at your side or in your hand as you walk about. If it weren't for this ease-of-loss, I'd have given int 5 stars.
