My dermatologist recommended I take this. he told me he has studied a lot about butyrate and was so convinced by how beneficial it is, that he wanted me to add it to my acne regimen. He told me to start with one a day with meals, and build up to a max of 6 a day. I had (had!!! :) a severe case of cystic acne...hormonal and genetic...after months of antibiotic treatment, I had recurring thrush (yeast) in my mouth. I am now off antibiotics, and have not had a laser treatment in 6 months. I have not had a yeast recurrence since starting this product. I also have celiac disease so my gut is very sensitive. From my research I can see why he wanted me to take it. It is good for someone who has been on a lot of antibiotics, since it is a prebiotic. He told me the short chain fatty acids would help unclog my pores and help manage the sebum issues that contribute to the acne. My skin is doing very well, however I believe the primary reason is that I have hormonal acne and part of my acne treatment involved going on hormonal birth control to manage it. I was supposed to start accutane, but I am doing so well I feel like I will just keep taking this supplement along with my topical prescriptions and the birth control. I am just thrilled to be off antibiotics, off the anti-yeast medications, and not having to go in for laser treatments every 4 weeks!I am happy with the affordable price on Amazon. It is much more expensive buying direct, I was charged $11 shipping buying it direct from bodybio site, bringing my total to about $70 for a bottle of 250 capsules. I compared the bottles and opened the capsules from each container, the one I purchased direct from bodybio and the one from amazon, and everything appears identical. I tasted the contents of each capsule. I was wondering why it is so much cheaper on amazon and wanted to make sure it was exactly the same product. From my non-clinical observations, they are exactly the same so I will be buying it on amazon from now on. The powder tasted awful,...salty actually...but I guess thats just how it tastes! bottom line, I will continue taking this product, it is beneficial for anyone with acne, anyone who has been on antibiotics, has gut issues or autoimmune disease such as celiac.

Ok, I read this is painful for a few weeks, and yes, it is, when you first start taking it, the pain and gas are no good, but it will subside in a few days. I also take one per day and some days I alternate on and off. But when I stopped taking it, my belly was bad again so it definitely works and it will smooth out over a few days. It is SMELLY, but once it is down, you don't notice. Works well, stopped my gagging when brushing my teeth and helped me sleep longer hours. Highly Recommend.

This product really help with GI issues and bloating.

First of all, all butyrate products smell like these capsules smell. There is nothing wrong with them. These help me to be able to digest meat and dairy better and they help me sleep, maybe because my digestive system isn’t working as hard. I did notice however, that I have the urge to pee when I lie down. I’ll continue to take these though because the positives outweigh the negatives.

I have been taking this for a while over years, and normally the odor is very strong. It seems that they altered it because this last one almost doesn't has an odor and it is concerning.

I bought this supplement because it was recommended by "selfdecode" which is a website that interprets your DNA results to see how the different genes can affect health.For me personally this supplement causes my entire body to feel incredibly relaxed like I just took 1500mg of Acetaminophen! According to my DNA I am very immune to the effects of CBD oil so I can take massive amounts and feel no effects. However, this Sodium Butyrate seems to work fantastic as an anti inflammatory supplement with similar results as what people claim CBD oil does! It continues to have consistent effects even after 3 weeks of use with no signs of building a tolerance!Im not exaggerating when I say I feel soooo relaxed I could fall asleep on a hard wood floor. Yup, that happened :-) (No alcohol was involved haha).I did'nt notice any kind of boost in cognitive function as some people do, but its possible it is in fact boosting my brains ability to produce certain hormones which in turn make me relaxed. Everyone is different and may have different effects. At this price its worth trying out.Warning: At higher dosages (2 capsules twice daily) I began feeling tooo relaxed which made me feel like I needed to urinate often. At the higher dosage mentioned, the feeling of needing to urinate was only noticeable when laying in bed. During the day it wasnt noticeable at all. This was especially annoying when trying to fall asleep. I eventually reduced dosage to 1 capsule daily before bed.

I'm mid 30's, have always had really bad IBS since I was a kid, lately some symptoms of leaky gut and acid reflux and I really felt like my gut health was impacting other areas of my life, like energy level and anxiety, which I'd not really dealt with much until the last year or so. I'm typically a pretty high energy type of person and like to do have marathons and biking. I'm also high blood pressure, average weight.This product, by day two really regulated my stools (not hard at all, not liquidy and they almost feel like they are coated with slime, lol. And surprisingly, this product seems to be a bit of a relaxant as well...I feel like I am less bloated, less pain or tension, very similar effects of taking high doses of acetaminophen as a relaxant for muscle pain.I've not taken my blood pressure yet since going on this product but I do wonder if it is reducing inflammation and BP.Overall, gut aside I feel much better and my digestive issues seem to have improved rather quickly. I'll be sure to update this later, but I'm floored that one ingredient would have this kind of positive impact on my body. Hopefully it continues.
