fantastic knife
My husband was skeptical about spending this much on a paring knife. He loves it and so do I. It is very sharp but that means it cuts incredibly easily. Also has a good feel in the hand.

Mac is best, great gift
Carbon steel blades are the way to go- stays sharp for a very long time. This is a great size pairing knife and it’s shaped like the larger Mac knives. My Mom loved this gift-highly recommend !

MAC knives are a chef’s first choice
Perfect balance, extremely sharp edge lasts a long time before needing to be resharpened. Well worth the investment, these are lifetime knives.

Good knife
I have one of these knives and it is great albeit a bit expensieve. Got another one as a gift for my sister.

Light in the hand. Too light.
This knife is sharp as all get out, and certainly high quality. My main complaint is that, subjectively, it is too light for my preferences for a paring knife.

Bought as an alternative to German paring knife for a friend
I have a friend who has a small bakery. She had me sharpen a couple of paring knives - a Henckel and a Wusthof - that also had bolsters which extended below the cutting edge due to a previous sharpening on a machine that wore down the edge of each knife. I was able to remove the extra bolster so that the knives now rest flat on a cutting board, but I wanted her to experience the joy of a Japanese knife that has no bolster and is made of excellent steel that holds an edge well. So I bought her one of these MAC knives. Although this model is not a high-end MAC, it is still an excellent alternative to German steel, and she is very happy with its performance. MAC is not as well known a name as, say, Shun, but it is favored by many chefs. I own a MAC petty knife that is my go-to knife for such things as slicing tomatoes. Once you use a Japanese knife, you realize that you do not need a serrated knife for tomatoes - just a sharp Japanese knife such as a MAC like this.

Wow! My new favorite!
I'm kind of a fanatic about easy-to-use, sharp kitchen knives. One of my favorite paring knives just got too old, so I decided to invest in a new one - and I'm glad I did. This MAC 4" paring knife is superb! It's everything that I like in a kitchen knife: maneuverable, sharp, and low-friction. It was very sharp out of the box, but I did tune it up just a little bit by running it over a pair of 20 degree angled fine ceramic rods, which should have given it a slightly stronger secondary angle. Now, it cuts like nobody's business! Probably the most frictionless knife I've used so far. Clean, clean, clean slices! I would definitely buy this again. In fact, because of it, I am looking at the MAC 8" chef knife, too.

Super sharp and great for lots of cooking jobs. But after several months the blade is showing nicks and sharpness is not as good…despite regular sharpening. Chefs knife is much better quality
