Leviton Surface Mount Backbox, Single Gang, 1.45", 42777-1WB, White

Works great for installing UniFi in-wall AP in a garage.

I have read a few negative reviews on both the single and double Surface Mount Backboxes, saying that they are too expensive. I disagree. If you are using just a few, the price is well worth the quality and beauty of the boxes. They are sturdy and well constructed. The back can be detached from the box to make it easier for several choices of attaching it to the wall. All four sides have interior markings for cutting to accommodate various types of wire raceways. It provides several options for securing the electrical wiring. Leviton outlets, switches, and faceplates fit perfectly. The backside of the box is slightly larger than the front, giving a somewhat artistic appearance. I am using several single and double boxes and could not be more satisfied. There are other less expensive brands of surface mount boxes on Amazon, but they look cheap and crude and belong in attics and basements. Leviton's boxes are suitable to be used in living spaces.

I added an outlet inside a cabinet for so lighting. I was please to discover that the back snaps off the box, making it easy to work with. Mounted the back plate, hooked up the duplex then snapped the box back in place. Clean look since the only knock outs is in the back plate

These were a lifesaver. I updated the switches and plugs on a house built in 1970. There were 3 outlets in a room, all a slightly different height, and buried partway in a shelf. I brought the wires forward , mounted these on top of the shelves and it looks so nice. I hate having to cut wall plates. Especially 3 different sizes. There are several holes in the back of the box, and I was able to find the right hole configuration for each one to mount securely to the holes in the electrical box. I had to make a couple of the holes larger, which wasn't a problem since these are plastic. And no visible exterior knockouts. More room and flexibility than a wiremold extension box.

Unlike other reviews I read, the punchouts were easy to remove and did not splinter or crack the box. I like that it has all the standard options available for different conduit and wire channels.

The item quality is spot on, looks sturdy enough and allowed us to do what we needed to. Will buy again for sure

Bought two, one of which comes apart when I unplug a cord. The back plate is attached to the surrounding walls with four snaps, and this somehow doesn't hold for me. I have a tamper resistant socket so there's some additional force but I don't think it should come apart like this. The other of the two I bought works perfectly fine

I used this for an Ethernet cable with faceplate. Worked great.

Nice easy to install design install back plate snap on front plate simple enough. Note made of PVC use caution can snap or break during install.(mine did not but I can see how it can happen)

I needed a BLACK surface mount box to cover up a roughed in security camera wire that was stubbed out of the siding on my home. Conventional outdoor surface mount boxes were too industrial looking so I opted to make my own Weather Proof Box using this LEVITON Surface mount box combined with a Hubbell-Bell GS100 Weatherproof Gasket and Enerlites 8801-BK-10PCS Black Cover Plates both found here on Amazon. Combining all the parts mentioned resulted in an Attractive, Black, Weatherproof, Surface mounted box with black cover plate to cover the protruding camera wire. I realize that my application was not typical but the Leviton box was the foundation that make it all work. This surface mount box is well made and has dozens of options for mounting and various punch outs to work with other surface mount duct systems or in my case MacGyver my own. After experimenting with this box I have purchased several more Leviton Boxes both in Black and White colors and single gang and dual gang sizes. Highly Recommend
