Who would’ve thought!!!
So, as I got older things started changing with my body as I was sleeping and needed to try these out to see if it would stop my tongue from automatically being bitten as I was sleeping. I know it sounds strange but it’s true. So I try these out And the first two or three nights it took me an adjustment of having something in my mouth but once I did, it stopped immediately of the automatic motions of me, biting my tongue in my sleep. So it has been a great success for me and no more little holes in my tongue to be had in the morning time.

Tired of spending $800 for a custom mouth guard?
Full disclosure; I’m not a dentist. I am, however, dedicated to my oral health and hygiene. I’ve gone through five custom made mouth guards over the years, the last one of which cost over $800, out-of-pocket , no less! I still have a the molds of my teeth that were used to make that ‘spensive guard. — I stumbled upon Plackers in 2017 because my puppy ruined my custom mouth guard, and I knew I’d need a temporary solution while I waited to get to my dentist and have a new guard made. Upon inserting my first Plackers guard in my mouth, I thought it had merit. Yes, they’re small, but I have a smallish bite, so it was fine. After the first night I knew it had done its job, and was pleased I hadn’t damaged it, and also, that it hadn’t shifted in my mouth. After a few days, it started feeling odd on my lower teeth, so I turned it upside down and wore it on my upper teeth. I’ve been wearing it that way ever since. Long story, short, it’s now 2025 and… I never had another custom guard made, my dentist has no clue, my gums haven’t receded further, my oral health is still top tier, and I never worry about losing or damaging my mouth guard, because I’ve always got a backup. In fact, that’s what landed me here, writing this; I’m ordering another box.

FINALLY Able to keep a bite guard in all night!
RE: Plackers Grind No More Night Guard, Nighttime Protection for Teeth, BPA FreeUPDATE MAR 2024: Reduced from 5 to 4 stars. These are still the only ones that work for me, except I'm finding with new batch, SOMETIMES I have to take them out within 20 min because I start having an asthma cough. The previous batches did not do this. THEN I came on here and saw someone mention their latest had intense chemical smell. Mine don't have the smell, but something about them is suddenly triggering asthma cough. SO sad, because these are the only that worked and now I can't use or trust getting them.I can't say for SURE that these are the cause, because they don't always trigger the asthma cough, but weird it coincides so quickly with putting them on when it does. After a few days of prednisone it stopped, so maybe my asthma is extra sensitive right now, but I do hope the company acknowledges the necessity for these to be non-allergenic for everyone.-------------------------------------ORIGINAL 5 star review:I've been through every type of guard, and here we have the simplest piece of all, no "fitting to teeth," and yet FINALLY something I can use.Apparently I have extreme clenching/grinding at night (like so many of us now), but it has recently resulted in some crazy bad symptoms that almost cause some unnecessary dental work thinking I had a dying or exposed nerve. Turns out 2 things were actually going on: TMJ from all the clenching, and some serious seeming nerve pain (any temp liquids would cause a flash of horrible pain on one side). The latter, (upon insisting on seeing my regular dentist again before an endodontist the office was sending me to), ended up being a month-old POPCORN KERNAL jammed way up into gums that no amount of flossing removed. LIKE I SAID it was in the first place, but nothing was found because pain was referring to the bottom side when it was upper. So that horrific pain was gone but the milder TMJ pain and my usual sensitive teeth as a result of that and years of brushing too hard, remained. In addition to specifically using Pronamel REPAIR (NON-whitening) after a lot of research, I knew I had to make the bite guard thing work. In the past I had one from the dentist, but couldn't keep it in, stopped, then lost it. This time I bought 2 from Dentek, a full one and a partial one, both that mold to your teeth. That would be a great option for anyone who IS able to keep them in all night, but I just couldn't, and instead of longer each night it got shorter and I wasn't getting sleep. Finally, scrolling through here for more options I saw these. My first thought was "Yikes, I'd probably swallow it (my fear) since it's so small." Then I looked at a pic that someone posted and saw that, on these, the hoop part actually goes above your front teeth! I immediately ordered a 16 pack because I knew that this would work for me, because in addition to the hoop holding it from the front, it just had 2 little rectangles that sit between those back teeth, stopping them from making contact with each other.Happy to report it stayed in ALL NIGHT, and I am one of those people terrified of anything getting stuck in my throat. That front hoop stops that from happening and it goes even higher up above the front teeth than the pic showed. This is the bite guard you will least feel than any of them. I would never believe I could keep one in all night. I might even occasionally wear one during the day when I'm feeling stressed and ornery about something. It isn't going to solve the sensitivity due to worn enamel or TMJ in just a few uses, but I certainly feel better and on the right path.In the morning I put it in a little cup of Listerine antiseptic mouthwash to clean it. It looks like they say each one can be used "up to 48 times," so if you get a month to a month & a half out of each one, that's an added bonus!Obviously if you have some complicated teeth or jaw issue that requires a custom fit by your dentist to accomplish other things for some reason, use that. But if you're having problems grinding and can't abide normal guards, don't be me and wait until you're "scared straight" and HAVE to do it.Whether you KNOW you're grinding or clenching or not, believe me, your dentists WILL know, you may have to ASK him. Mine originally asked me if I was clenching and I said "not that I know of," and he sounded flustered and said "you're clenching like there's no tomorrow!" I then started paying attention and realized I was even doing it during the day and had to be more cognizant of relaxing the jaw. So they may not tell you, ask if there are indications.Thank you Plackers! I always love your floss pics and now these bite guards are an option for those of us who feel like there are no options. PLEASE never stop making these, it is the only thing like it out there, and people are going to need them now more than ever in these stressful times.

A Nightly Essential!
I can confidently say I use these every single night and now can't sleep without them. They are highly effective at preventing my teeth grinding and have made a huge difference in my morning jaw pain. When you consider the cost of custom-fitted mouth guards, these are an incredibly good value for the money. The fact that they're ready to wear with no boiling or molding is a game-changer, and I prefer them to the boil kind. I highly recommend them to anyone who grinds their teeth.

disposables that worked for me
I have mouth guards from my dentist and I'm afraid of losing them when I travel so I thought I would try these disposables when out of town. I think they work well because my teeth aren't sore the next morning. And no big deal if I lose them when out of town.

Pretty good! Worth a try!
These are pretty cool. You can put them on upper or lower teeth. Doesn’t bother me as much as other mouthpieces, and I like how affordable they are. Someone here said they used one for months, I probably could only get a week as I seem to grind a bit and they get thinner and wider as a result. Although I don’t know that negatively impacts how effective they are, after it gets pretty thin I feel like I should replace.

Plackers Grind No More Night Guard: A Review
As part of my journey for better oral health, my dentist suggested I get a night guard for grinding. I tried a "melt and fit" style guard first, but it felt way too big and intrusive in my mouth.Next, I tried the Plackers Grind No More night guards. They are designed to be small and thin, only covering the back teeth on each side. While I appreciate this minimal design, they still felt a bit too big for me, and I couldn't get used to sleeping with anything in my mouth. It's possible this is a "user error" since I'm new to night guards, but unfortunately, they just didn't work out for me.On a positive note, the design is very convenient. They come individually packaged and are disposable, which means you don't have to worry about washing and keeping them on your nightstand. While this particular product didn't work for me, I think they could be an excellent, less intrusive option for someone else who is looking for a disposable night guard.
