The discs fitted perfectly and have sealed the jam contents perfectly

All good, if your not sure why you may need to use them for home preservation products, the principal is simple, when putting hot jams or high brix products In jars with tight fitting lids, you can get condensation on the lid, without a wax disk this condensation can drip down onto the surface of the jam in small areas, this in turn causes a reduction or dilution in the sugar in that area which can lead to spoilage, the wax disk spreads this out and avoids the issue, not a garentee but it certainly helps! So would recommend.

Very different from what I have used in the past. Difficult to see which side is waxed and I agree with another reviewer who said that they don’t stick to the jam but curl up Having difficulty used them not good when I am so busy
