Odin TTL Wireless Flash Trigger for Nikon - Transmitter Only (PH89058)

As per my review of the system, the receivers (total of 3) worked without any problems. I accidentally dropped one from about 5 feet onto a tile floor and not even a scratch or malfunctions.My review of the system:The new Photttix Odin for Nikon delivered in all aspects of triggering multiple Nikon flashes, 2 SB 910"s and one SB 700. The set up was very easy, I tried all flashes on the same group (A) and worked as expected, I used each flash on a different group; A, B and C and it worked as expected, indivdually changing output from the on camera transmitter to each flash with (a receiver has to be attached to each flash of course) without any problems. I have not tested how far I can trigger the flashes as I used them in a room within about 10' from the transmitter but I am sure they would deliver as well. Overall, great addition to flash photography where remote triggering is called for.

This works fantastically! I've done one 13-hour wedding, and two other photo shoots using this. Turn everything on, set the channel, and it starts firing. No miss-fires, no not firing, it simply does what it's designed to do.My only issue (and it may be me) is the zoom function sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. I've yet to figure out the rhyme or reason. i don't use zoom a ton, but it's one of the reasons I bought it. so it needs to work all time. I'll go through all of the instructions again, because I could be doing it wrong. We'll see.I HIGHLY recommend this. Especially over Pocket Wizards. Do NOT spend that type of money for name brand, over-hype. Do yourself a favor and buy the Phottix Odin.

It perform but still has a few issues to be ironed out. I used it in many environments from studio to landscape portraits and it is dependable, easy to operate, and is still in operation after almost two years so that is a plus.

Absolutely love these triggers. They are comperable to the pocket wizard triggers but cost much less. These are better in some aspects and the pocket wizards are better in other aspects. Do your research and compare features. But know that if these trigger match the features that you're looking for, you will love them. 2 features I wish they had are a test button on each receiver, and battery indicators. But even without those features I still love these triggers.

It still amazes me that this entire product line is so much cheaper in cost than other solutions that don't even accomplish the same results. Reliable, well built, full of features. The only negative that keeps it from being a 5 star rating is the form factor. If the hotshoe was on the other end of the receiver, and facing the same direction, my light modifiers (soft boxes, etc.) would fit better. That's it. No other complaints.

The original Odin '1' remote flash controller is hard to find now since the Odin II set came out. This remote flash controller is nice and slim versus the new Odin 2 controller which are square and bulkier to accommodate a digital display. I mount this on light stands or sometimes with the little SpeedLite stand on the floor. I have several Odin 1's now set for various channels/zones to allow different light output for different placement and Speedlites. This Odin 1 flash controller is compatible with the new Odin 2 master controller too. The old Odin 1 master controller can trigger Odin 2 remote controllers too. So I've been buying additional when I can find them here and there to have a spare. So far this set is future proof. Many photographers use PocketWizards, which uses an antiquated analog zone controller. Others who use the much more expensive ProFoto systems have embarrassing failures. But I've never had misfires or fail to fires with the Phottix wireless flash trigger system.

I had ordered the Phottix Odin bundle with extra receiver for Canon at the same time that I ordered this receiver for my 3rd flash and that set has been great but this receiver gave me problems. I ordered this twice as the first one I got was the wrong receiver. Customer service was great with Amazon and the return was easy. The second one was the right receiver but when I tried to update the firmware on it the day I received it there were problems. The update did not download into the receiver and the unit got too warm to the touch after trying to download the firmware several times. The batteries felt uncomfortably hot so I immediately took them out and let them cool. Whether there was a problem with the batteries or the receiver, I am not sure but the receiver did not work. Amazon immediately refunded my money that day before I had even sent the receiver back to them. This is real customer service. I am rating the receiver I got one star in this case but Amazon receives 5 stars for their help.

If you are an amateur photographer, these are pretty expensive for what you get. But with 4 channels and 3 groups, they are so flexible. I use them with Nikon TTL flashes. I just did a portrait sitting for business profile shots and I definitely was the limiting factor, not these. The thing about buying good triggers and Nikon branded flashes is that they don't usually fail. I had the Y brand flash and it was dead in 2 years. The Nikon SB-xx0 flashes just work. Hint - use Nimh rechargeables for fastest recycle times.

Being the same receiver of the Odin TTL pack, it works in the same way.Which means that it is basically perfect: it's very reliable and sturdy (I feel my flash is safer on this receiver than on the umbrella swivel)..

Also schaut nicht unbedingt auf meine Orthografie und Stilistik Fehler,sonder sucht und findet in meinen Berichten etwas was euch den möglichen kauf behilflich sein könnte.So könnte man sich einiges ersparen, oder vielleicht auch einiges versäumen.Im Anfang war Phottix Odin nur für Canon erhältlich... Aber... Phottix erobert langsam aber sicher die Foto-Welt...Update von 01.11.12: Neue Odin ist auch Nikon rausgekommen.Update von 11.10.2013: Und jetzt ist auch für Minolta und Sony erwerblich.Das Phottix Odin Receiver Funktioniert bei Canon EOS 5D MK IIund Canon Speedlite 550 EX wunderbar.Alle Beschriebenen Funktionen sind vorhanden, und funktionieren an besagten Flash perfekt.Auch HightSpeed bis 1/8000 inklusive, Ratio, wie auch Zoom Einstellung, Manuell, ETTL usw.Es werden 3 Gruppen A, B und C unterstützt. So hat jeder Blitzmessgäret immer den Vorblitz gemessen.Und eine Lichtmessung war somit nicht möglich.Das gehört jetzt aber zur Vergangenheit.Der Hauptblitz kommt jetzt erst nach ca. 2,5s Verzögerung.Nach erfolgtem Vorblizz kann man das Messgerät benutzen und das Licht Korrekt ausmessen.Das ist aber nicht die einzige Verbesserung…Es sind noch viele andere Sinnvolle Feautures ergänzt worden.ZB. Ist eine neue Menü dazu gekommen die ermöglich den Einsatz einer EOS 1Dx.Die kann man explizit einschalten. Diese Menü ist nur für die EOS 1DX.Alle andere EOS kommen weiter ohne diesen Modus aus. Das heißt diese Modus soll für alle EOS außer 1Dx immer auf OFF stehen.Die Kommunikation zwischen Sender und Empfänger wurde zusätzlich verfeinert.Im Netz habe ich schon berichte mitbekommen die besagen das Phottix bis ca. 130m voll funktioniertEin weiteres interessantes und sinnvolles futures ist für langsame Studio Blitze implementiert.Das futures hört auf das Zauberwort ODS.Der, die, das, ODS Einstellungsmenu erlaubt Studioblitze fein zu Synchronisieren …im ODS kann man in 1ms schritten - von 0 bis 50ms - die Auslösung verzögern.So ZB. ist mit ziemlich langsamen "Bowens Gemini 400" - bei Blende 16 und 1/640 Verschlusszeit - noch möglich korrekt zu belichten.Nachtrag: 01.11.12Seit neusten Präsentiert Phottix Odin auch für Nikon Kamera!Ich bin wie davor mit zwei Empfänger sehr zufrieden, bald kommt noch ein drittes dazu.Und ich habe inzwischen auch ein neuen update installiert.Installation verlief tadellos.Es wurde von 0.5 Blendeschritten jetzt auf 0.3 Blendeschritten verbessert.Kompatibilität:Blitzgeräte: Nikon SB-400, SB-600, SB-700, SB-800, SB-900, SB-910, Phottix Mitros TTL Blitz für NikonKameras: Nikon D70 und D70s sind nicht kompatibelNachtrag: 11.10.2013Ab sofort gibt es auch Phottix Odin TTL Blitzauslöser SET für Sony Alpha und MinoltaNachtrag: 23.10.2013 nach über 1 Jahr Nutzung...Ok …Hier liste ich noch einige Dinge die ich in vorigen updates nicht ausführlich angesprochen habe:ZB... Was kann man alles über den Odin einstellen ohne Flash anzurühren zu müssen(Natürlich wenn der Flash schon eingeschaltet ist).1. Die Leistung im E-TTL Modus.2. Die Leistung im Manuell Modus.3. Die Leistung und Ratioverhältnis, im Ratio Modus.4. Zoom in Manuellen Modus, (E-TTL stellt Zoom Automatisch von 20mm bis 200mm, wenn man einen Passenden Flash hat, wie ZB den Canon Speedlite 600ex-rt)17mm kann nicht einstellen. Das aber liegt am Technischer Konstruktion der Speedlite selbst.die 17mm wird in Speedlite Mechanisch über das Rausziehen der Streuscheibe eingeschaltet.5. Jede der 3 Gruppen (A, B, C) kann man im E-TTL und M einzeln steuern, und oder mischen E-TTL Modus mit Manuel Modus.(Ratio stellt gewöhnlich nur 2 Gruppen ein die A & B.6. Einen der 4 möglichen Kanäle auszuwählen.7. 1-ten oder den 2-ten Vorhang.8. HSS Leistung kann man in allen Modus einstellen: im Ratio, E-TTL oder M und oder in Mischmodus.9. ODS - Verschlus fein Synchronisation.Mein zwischenzeit Fazit: 23.10.2013Langsam aber sicher nimmt der Phottix Odin neue und klare Konturen ein.Im ca. 1 Jahr ist er Umfangreicher und vor allen reifer geweorden.Das „Hässliche Entlein“ die noch vor einem Jahr "verspottet" wurde, wächst jetzt zur einen Schönen Schwan heran.Der Komfort wird umso Deutlicher je weiter die Flash aufgestellt sind. Kein Laufen mehr.So kann man jeder mögliche und einzelne Einstellung Zentral von Odin direkt ausführen…Mit Sicherheit neben dem pocketwizard ist er auf dem Weltmarkt, der bester seiner Art.Durch seine neue Funktionen überrtrifft aber der Odin den Pocketwizard im Komfort, unwiderruflich.Wobei die Zuverlässigkeit ist dem Pocketwizard ebenwürdig…Und aber kostet nur ein Teil von Pocketwizard. Und das kann bei mehreren Flash Einsatz schnell über mehrere hundert Euro Ersparnis sein.Wenn man einmal mit dem Odin gearbeitet hat will man im nicht mehr missen wollen.Für einen Hobbyfotografen ist es ein nettes Spielzeug, der seinen Preis hat.Für einen Profi ein unverzichtbares Werkzeug, der ein Wert hat.Letzte Update 31.05.2015 1:17 AM
