Edit: last night put everything together with the door panel and adjusted the eq and now the bass kicks. Wish I did this a long time ago Original: I bought this and a set of kenwoods 1666s to replace the stock front component speakers on a 2005 MINI R50, not using an amp and using stock headunit. With no EQ the stock speakers actually hits the bass really hard to my surprise but they are very old and need repairing. Comparing to stock, the kendwoods had some bass and skar had little bass but ultimately skar won out due to the clarity. The kendwoods at first sounded fine but when comparing back to back they were really muddy next to skar. The skar speaker takes a little more work because it comes with zero hardware and it has 2 large connection tabs rather than 1 big 1 small like most other speakers. The screws aren't a big deal because most of the time the provided screws are the wrong size but the large negative tab is the hassle if you're using a wiring harness. You have to swap out the smaller connection blade to the bigger 6.3mm or solder it. For the screws you'll want #8 sheet metal screws in stainless or black oxide in whatever length you need if attaching to a plastic bracket. You can go smaller to #6 if needed.

Have a 2014 Chevy Cruze LT that came with the premium Pioneer 9 speaker system...but it sounded like anything but. The front door speakers in particular distorted something awful even with the bass turned all the way down and if it was cold....the sound was so bad that I would rather drive in silence. Since the door speakers were just midranges I wanted to replace them with something comparable. The impedance on the factory speakers was 3 ohms which was rather odd to me and these are 4. Installation was pretty easy, just had to remove the old speakers and splice the cables into the new ones. I am really amazed at the sound quality of a speaker brand I honestly had not heard of before. Sounds is really nice and clear with no distortion and are an upgrade compared to the factory speakers which by all purposes appeared to be made of unsealed paper. I am no audiophile but I do like to have good clean, powerful sound and as long as you temper your expectations of what these speakers can do I think you will be pretty happy with them. One piece of advice it to measure your clearance to determine if you need to get mounting brackets. For the Cruze these were not drop in replacements. I had to 3D print some brackets and even so I had to increase the height by 3 inches so they would clear the windows when lowered. Only had these for about a month so no problems so far. Time will tell how well they perform and last so if any issues comes up I will update the review but for someone who just wants to replace some blown out speakers or add some sound without shelling out $100+ for a pair of higher end brands these will do well.

So this is not really a pro audio speaker as advertised. It's clear and accurate enough, just not compared to polyurethane cone mids. The polys are much better at reproducing voice whereas these are much better at reproducing crunchy guitar. But I'm happy with their sound and these are very inexpensive. My advice is if you're on a tight budget these will get it done. These are great little mids if you listen to a lot of rock and roll or metal. If you listen to a lot of vocal music or pop you might want to invest in a polyurethane cone mid, something like a Recoil or an Infinity Reference or Kappa if you want to spend a little or a lot more. The Recoil is the cheapest option for a polyurethane cone, but it's not the most accurate compared to the more expensive options. It's the next step up from these Skars though. It's also a little better at reproducing bass than the Infinitys, even though that's not really what you're going for with a mid. A pair of 6.5 inch two-way setup with crossovers will run you about $50 here on Amazon. I bought these Skars even though I have a set of Recoils in my front doors, just because I wanted to see how the Skars perform. I have no regrets. There's definitely something to be said for broadening the sound of your system by mixing and matching speakers.

Great bass sound quality easy to install.

I put these guys in my 2008 Impala and the magnet is too fat and won't let the window roll down all the way. Sounds good tho

I based my purchase of this seaker on the number of good reviews I found on Amazon. The low price compared to other speakers of the same class left me feeling doubtful. However, when I received it, I was amazed by the overall quality of the unit. The magnet is huge compared to the one on the original flimsy-looking speaker I pulled out of the front drivers door on my Chevy Tahoe when I also replaced the power window mechanism. The diaphragm is sturdy and of good quality. I tested the performance on high and mid range tones playing rock music and experienced no chattering or background static. Had to install it by drilling 4 holes around speaker hole in the door frame because it would not fit inside the latch mounted dust cover. The outside visible cover on the door panel hides and protects the speaker, so this wasn't a problem. Will buy 3 more speakers for the front passenger door and two back doors.

The speakers are great. The sound quality is perfect. There pretty sturdy as far as speakers go. Very easy and straightforward to install.

Good speakers scar audio makes one of the best speakers for the budget category the subs pound in the door speakers these are for vocals so if you want a speaker for bass and vocals these aren't the ones for you but if you want to separate your vocals from your base these are definitely the ones you want

These need more than 5 stars. For the price you can’t go wrong. 150w rms at full volume and crystal clear. I have 4, one in each door of my truck and my ears are ringing when I get out.

Good speakers

Bought these to replace the shot door speakers on my 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe. Had them installed at a local shop and they fired right up. They sound very similar to the original speakers if not a bit better for a fraction of the cost of OEM speakers. I've had them installed for 7 months now and I really enjoy them. I bought two of the 6.5 inch 300 Watt 4 Ohm Speaker.
