Do the bar adjust to various widths?

Yes. The bar is in two pieces, which clip together in the center. Each piece consists of an inner and outer portion, which slide out, so you can adjust from 6 ft to 12ft.

Does it have tightening knobs to keep the bar on the stands like some of the other similar products. If not, does it need it.
