This review is for: Ozeri Pronto Digital Multifunction Kitchen and Food Scale, Original By: Ozeri Store ==================================================== When my last kitchen scale gave up the ghost I tried going without for a while but measuring cups just don't give the accuracy and consistency needed for dry measures. I found that to be especially true for measuring flour. My understanding is that's why cooks used to sift flour before measuring. Scales are much easier and are much more accurate. Also, I don't know anyone who has a flour sifter in their kitchen unless they inherited one from their grandmother. Ok, getting back on track... So I started searching Amazon. With nearly 90,000 mostly positive reviews at the time of this review, I settled on this one. And it didn't disappoint. I love this scale. It does everything I need, but I'm just an average and occasional home cook. For my needs it's very accurate, providing consistent results for my sourdough habit. However, like many scales it may not be accurate when weighing items of just a few grams. For those small measures, don't place your items directly on the scale as currently shown on the product page. Instead, place a plate or bowl on the scale, tare it, and then add the few grams of product to your plate/bowl until you get the desired amount. I read that recommendation years ago and it seems to work for me. NOTE: This tip likely harks back to the days of older analog scales that utilized springs, although I've read that some digital scales still have springs. It's very small so can fit almost anywhere in your cabinets, and is easy to clean. It measures in pounds, grams, ml etc. - whatever you might need. BATTERY SAVING TIME-OUT FEATURE The one negative is that out of the box it shuts down after 2 minutes of inactivity to save batteries. That caught me by surprise a couple of times mid-measure as I was reading recipes, resulting in some bar-room language escaping my mouth. Grudgingly, I resorted to reading the flippin' manual to see if the time-out feature could be controlled. Turns out you can switch between a 2 minute timeout and a 5 minute timeout by pressing and holding the two control buttons (Unit & Tare) at the same time. Problem solved. -- You'll need to repeat this step when changing batteries! I highly recommend this little scale!

In need of a digital scale, I was originally drawn to the ones with a large, flat surface. However, I was intrigued by this one with its smaller footprint, and I couldn't be happier with it. I love its simplicity. I don't want needless settings and features (to break) and I don't want it talking to me lol. There are two buttons on it, one to choose among 5 measuring units (I use the oz or gram) and the "Tare" button, which turns it on, off, and resets to zero. Don't be deceived by the scale's smaller surface in the form of a disc. There isn't one thing I've been unable to measure. If necessary, I can place a bowl on the disc to make weighing certain things easier. I've also used reusable plastic containers. Another handy item to use if you can't place something directly on the surface (or simply don't want to) is a coffee filter. I've used those to weigh cheese and chicken, then just toss them. If you need to weigh liquids, any measuring cup will fit on that base. Just remember to place whatever container you're using on the unit FIRST, notice its weight, THEN hit "Tare." This will reset it to zero so the holding item isn't factored in the weight. (Even toweling or coffee filters have weight.) Another nice thing about this is that it used 2 regular AAA batteries. I don't like button batteries because I find them hard to insert/remove, and they're more expensive, so I was happy that this unit doesn't use them. The display is very basic, with no blue backlight, for those that want that. The numbers, however, are large and it's still easy to read. And what a value at this price! The unit is intuitive and user-friendly, but the instructions are comprehensive for those who want to look them over. I was in the market for a scale, and NOWHERE did I see a selection as large as Amazon's. If you need a simple digital scale, get this one! You won't be disappointed.

These are great little scales to use in the kitchen. As someone who's been overweight and still struggling to lose more, being able to measure my food accurately is crucial to helping with weight loss. Honestly, measuring a half a cup of something in a scoop and then comparing it to what it should weigh? I see little surprises all the time. Weight measure is the only accurate way to go when you're trying to count calories and lose weight. The Ozeri Pronto scales are fantastic. I have one for myself and gave one as a gift. They can even handle a fair amount of weight. I regularly use it to measure out the portions for my morning protein shake - and I start off by putting my SOLID GLASS blender container on top and zeroing out the scale! It measures Grams, Oz, Lb+Oz and even ml. Really helpful since most companies use grams but older recipes use oz or cups (8oz = 1 cup) and then some companies will only give you ml for measurements! Ugh! One thing I've taken note of, so far anything I measure in ml equals the same amount in grams. So, in my experience so far, if I have 200ml of something, it's also 200g. The scale body is plain plastic which helps keep the cost down and make it light weight - very easy to move around to where you want/need it. The only negative I can make note of is the fact that the plastic covering on the buttons wears quickly and it's not hard to damage it - so keep it clean and don't go jabbing at the buttons with sharp objects (like fingernails, forks, knives, etc! Guys, it's not a toy and it's not target practice...I'm only saying that out of personal experience. >.>) Anyhow, it's a great product at a great price, what else do you need? I'm actually considering getting a second one, just so I can have a backup should this one ever break. I enjoy using it and find it THAT useful to me daily!

Recebi o produto com a embalagem lacrada. O produto é bem construído, não me parece frágil mas deve ser manuseado com cuidado afim de evitar queda. Não conhecia a marca mas pelo que pesquisei, é famosa nesse segmento, inclusive com vários títulos e prêmios devido sua qualidade e confiabilidade. O único porém é, para ela ser designada como balança de precisão, deveria fazer pesagem mostrando valores fracionados, mas só resulta valores cheios. Utilizei um peso de 1.5g e a balança ficava oscilando entre 1g e 2g, mas no meu caso, que será usado para receitas na cozinha, não exige este nível de precisão.

Compre este producto para mi papá ya que al ser dentista necesita estar pesando muchas cosas al momento de trabajar, estas fueron las impresiones de el. PROS: *El producto es bastante solido en su fabricación. *Cuenta con dos botones los cuales sirven para poder controlar el tipo de medida que necesitas. *Incluye 4 baterías AAA. *Tiene soporte hasta 5050 g. *Es exacto al momento de pesar. CONTRAS: *Los materiales de construcción se sienten un poco baratos, al momento de ver la foto da la impresión que esta construido todo en metal o aluminio pero no es así, el producto esta conformado totalmente de plástico en su base y en la base de pesaje es también un tipo de plástico con aleación de otra cosa. ANTES DE COMPRAR: *Esta balanza solo puede pesar hasta 5050 g. *Usa baterías AAA(dos pares de pilas incluidas). *Esta fabricado en plástico. CONCLUSIÓN: Si lo que buscas es una bascula para pesar tus alimentos de forma rápida y precisa, este producto es para ti, sirve y sirve muy bien.

It does the Job and very good

I have been using this for two months now and very happy with the scale, ease of use, and specially the tare feature. My main use is while making sourdough bread where measurements needed are sometimes less than 10 grams. This is useful for me.
