Oxford Collocations Dictionary

This dictionary is really helpful for getting it right when you are not sure about how to combine words to write or speak idiomatic English. As a non-native speaker I often find myself wondering about what word comes before or next after a preposition, a verb, an adverb or a noun. I have a good command of English but there are times when I have no clue about what word or grammatical construction to use in a given context. That is when this dictionary comes into play. It provides plenty of examples of contexts where a word or set words or expressions are to be used to compose sentences in standard, idiomatic English. A true lifesaver for non-native speakers to write according to the usual manner of expression in English.

I love this book. It's very useful and easy to use dictionary that provides valuable help especially when trying to express your thoughts more native-speaker-like. The CD-ROM makes the dictionary portable as you can take it everywhere with your laptop. Also many excersises can significantly improve your English level. I definitely recommend this book to every student of English.

I love this dictionary because it is word specific every dictionary does not necessarily carry the specific meaning of a word weather in the noun, verb, or adjective form. In my assessment, I find this one to be off the chart.

Unter dem jeweiligen Stichwort sind alle semantischen und grammatikalischen Zusammenhänge und Formen, in denen ein Wort typischerweise verwendet wird, systematisch aufgelistet. Wo nötig, wird auch die Stilebene des Wortes angegeben. Feststehende Wendungen runden den jeweiligen Artikel ab. In der Mitte des Werks befindet sich zusätzlich eine kleine Sammlung von entsprechenden Übungen.

This bpok has lived up to my expectations.

This is not only a dictionary for students but it can help writers find perfect expressions that will help illuminate their writing. One great advantage is that the cd provided does not have to be placed into the drive whenever the dictionary is in use. Simply install and its always ready for use, which is great. It will be a wonderful addition to anyone's home library. In my opinion the publisher should take the word 'students' out of the title.

This second edition is so great, that I bought a second one when I moved to Canada. As a ESL person, Collocations are a real nightmare to me but this tool is simply great. Even, I do not need to see the book. I search everything on the CD that comes with it. I have more than ten professional dictionaries and by far this is the best.

The Book is amazing and it is a must for students who want to take an IELTS/PTE exam. The customer service/publisher is beyond good and I have had a very good experience with them. (The courier lost my book and the publisher sent me another book free of charge)
