Greetings, The best use of rock salt is to prevent roots from growing in the first place. Regularly pouring a 5-gallon bucket of salt dissolved in water down the lowest toilet in the house and following it with three flushes keeps rootlets at bay. This is especially effective if you have clay sewer pipes; the salt leaches into the clay and kills roots that come in contact with the pipes. Once the roots are established, physically cutting them is the best remedy, but rock salt can kill tiny rootlets and prevent large roots from growing. I hope this information was useful. A little pricey but good stuff

It's hard to get this locally but I was needing just a bit, ordering was fine. Arrived good and works perfectly. Keeps water from freezing in winter for a variety of projects.

I thought when I searched rock salt I was getting salt for my sidewalk but I got a tiny bag of this haha. I’m sure it’s good but I should have read better.

Efective,very small bag

I purchased this when I ran low on rock salt for my porch. I am disabled and can't carry the heavier bags at the grocery store in and out of my car. This patched me through a few days until my son could bring larger bag to fill my container on my porch.
