RESTful API Design: Best Practices in API Design with REST (API-University Series Book 3) - Kindle edition by Biehl, Matthias. Download it once and read it on your Kindle device, PC, phones or tablets. Use features like bookmarks, note taking and highlighting while reading RESTful API Design: Best Practices in API Design with REST (API-University Series Book 3). Review: Great book - covers everything you need to know on the topic - This is an excellent book on API design. The author covers everything that you should know when attempting to design and build a REST API but that you won’t unless you’ve either built several before and had to live with the consequences of limiting design choices or had to clean up an API left over from some other party. Much of the advice presented here is also usefully applied to software development of other types of systems and system components. If you have to build a new API, this would be the one resource you should study to learn how best to build it and how to avoid many problems before they come up. Review: Biehl knows APIs - This is the second book on API I've read by Mathias Biehl. The subject tends to be complex but it is well explained here. I've read many others on the subject and feel his ability to convey the concepts excels.

Excellent book on REST API design
I came across this book while looking for a resource that I could us to quickly ramp.up on the best practices for RESTfull API design and as the title suggests this book delivers as promised. What I didnt expect was that in addition to being an excellent introduction and quick ramp up to a good level of professiency, it is also a very easy read that I could get through on a weekend!! In addition the collection of 6 books from the API university series by Mathias is also an excellent set of resources for all things API related.

Great Information, but Needs Proofreading
This book has great information if you are trying to learn best practices of API design, but its biggest downfall is that it has a lot of grammatical mistakes, and sometimes simply uses the wrong word. If you are a native English speaker this is just distracting, but may cause problems for non-native speakers. The author needs to have the book proofread before publishing the next edition. Also, if I were the author, I would have the book proofread and release a new edition anyway.

A must-read for anyone developing and designing APIs
A must-read for anyone developing and designing APIs. The book is full of practical advice and walks you through the important decisions you need to make when building an API. You can feel that the author is speaking from personal experience. The REST concepts are well explained, many examples show the proper application of REST and the best practices are easy to follow.

Not the book I ordered, but I'm keeping it nonetheless
This is absolutely the funniest thing I've ever had happen to me. Someone has reskinned the book. The cover is the book I ordered, however the rest of the book has been replaced with a book called "Wanted by the Vampires", by Erin Bedford. I keep the book on my shelf in my office with all my other computer books now, just waiting for a coworker to ask an API related question so I can give them the book. I eagerly await the look on their face as they realize they have been duped into reading a Vampire love story. The greatest part is that this is book two. So, you get to jump right into the story without any idea of what has happened in book one.

This is possibly the best book I've read for API development. It covers all aspects, from general principles, to workflows, to API specification languages, to standards around response codes, headers, security, error handling an so on, although it doesn't cover too much in detail any of these aspects. A highly recommended read.

I bought the Kindle version and highly recommend it to someone who is looking forward to get into the ocean of APIs after going through the previous books on APIs by the author. Simple and comprehensive writing, real life industry examples, "real designing stuff" and importantly even a beginner can start reading this book even if he doesn't a thing about API.
