I think you’ll enjoy it too. Review: where do you come up with each story? - I have to say truthfully that once again Harley Coben comes up with a winning book. The story flows very well…no sections of yawns but a consistent page turning book that hold your attention right until the twist ending. If you haven’t read this HC book, buy it and enjoy.

Intriguing
This stand-alone is easy to follow and difficult to put down. No editing errors, gratuitous violence or drag-you-down drama. Descriptive writing that draws the reader into each scene. Realistic procedures, actions and reactions. Believable characters with distinct personalities. Thought-provoking and occasionally snarky dialogue. 'I overtip. For a cop, I’m fairly rich. Why wouldn’t I be? I’m Dad’s sole heir. Some people claim that money is the root of all evil. Could be. Others say that money can’t buy you happiness. That may be true. But if you handle it right, money buys you freedom and time, and those are a lot more tangible than happiness.' 'The woods are completely still. No birds coo. No leaves rustle. I can hear only the sound of my own breathing. The past does not simply die away. Whatever happened here still haunts these grounds. You can feel that sometimes—when you visit ancient ruins or old estates or when you are alone in the woods like this. The echoes quiet, fade away, but they never go completely silent.' I may re-read this book and always look forward to works by this author.

Compelling story
Isn’t high school supposed to be a time of unforgettable memories and friendships; witness high school reunions; what other institutions come close? But is this accurate? Alongside maturing physically and mentally, there is an awful lot of stupidity, meanness, and ostracization. In this story, a group of high school kids in a small New Jersey city were big pals some fifteen years prior; but suddenly one night two of them mysteriously wind up dead and another disappears. This story essentially uncovers the reality. Nat Dumas, thirty-three and now a detective, lost his twin brother that night and it was his girlfriend who disappeared. To say that he has been obsessed with that night for fifteen years is an understatement. And then Nat gets a knock on his door. One of those kids from years ago, also a policeman, has been killed execution style. Can this really be a coincidence? So many from a small group dead or missing? Nat starts pressing people like never before. It turns out that bits of information have been held back all these years. The problem is that what he may find may be as disconcerting as the original episode. Definitely one of Coben’s better books. Interest level stays high throughout. Couple of compelling characters. He even brings back Myron Bolitar for a cameo appearance on a school playground.

Starts Off Great, Fizzles Out
Napoleon Dumas, or Nap, tells his story in 1st person, and this reader was immediately caught up in the horrid tale of losing his twin brother, Leo, 15 years earlier. An accident, or a suicide? Nap, a cop in Westbridge, NJ, isn't sure. But a chapter earlier, a woman and man involved in a scam to catch cheating husbands in PA, turn out to be former schoolmates of Nap's. Something sinister covers everything. And I'm hooked. For about a third of the novel. Then it falls apart with a Conspiracy Club back in high school, a black ops site nearby, and some unpleasant characters. I expect those in Mr. Coben's novels, but in "Don't Let Go," they also become dull. And Nap loses a lot of his presence. If you want good thrillers by this usually excellent author, read the Myron Bolitar series, or "Caught."

Nap is a different kind of protagonist!
Fantastic character work here! The confrontations had me going: ‘Oh no, he didn't!' And then quickly: ‘But he did!' The senior citizens' club bar confrontation is the highlight of the whole book. I loved how one BS'd the other and then 'got grabbed'. I was cackling. However, the book ends with a rush as if there should have been another chapter or an epilogue to wrap things up. That would have knocked two stars off if it weren’t for that audacious grabbing scene in the bar. The lack of a resolution for a major plot makes this an unsatisfying experience.

Suspenseful and exciting
I loved everything about this book. I just couldn't put it down. There was so many twist and turns that I couldn't wait to finish it, yet I wanted to savor every page.

Another Can’t-Put-It-Down Page-Turner
Don’t Let Go is another great read by Coben. Masterfully woven with memorable characters, the right mix of suspense and mystery, a pace that’ll make you stay up later than you planned as you devour chapter after chapter. Thank you, Mr. Coben!

'Don’t Let Go' was an incredible page turner, which I expected as I love Harlan Coben and devoured this as I have his many others. However I really think this was a cut above the rest (and that's a high bar!) The story was captivating, never a dull moment, and the characters were all well developed as was the plot. Fifteen years ago, Leo and Diana were struck by a train. Were they playing a sick game that went wrong?; was it bad luck?; or something more sinister? Detective Napoleon, (Nap) Dumas wants to know why his twin brother, Leo, died. The same night, Nap’s girlfriend, Maura disappeared. Especially as now her fingerprints have appeared in another murder scene and the victim is yet another classmate. This is such a great mystery it kept me swiping into the early hours of the morning and I didn’t figure out all the connections until the very end. Nap is a good character you can’t help liking him and rooting for him to solve the old mystery even if the resolution is much darker than he anticipated. In fact, Coben based this book on true events that happened in his hometown which makes this his most believable and realistic to date. Coben has delivered intrigue and suspense but also added in a dash of humour which he is known for and romance which makes this a comprehensive read. 'Don’t Let Go' is a stand-alone thriller I would recommend to anyone who likes a good mystery it's actually pretty amazing... I found it impossible to put down. Highly recommended.
