Story Champs 2.0- Materials for Speech, Writing Development, Reading Comprehension, Language Assessment- Intervention for Toddler, School Age, ESL, Special Education- With Curriculum Workbook, Games, Strategies Toolkit

I am currently a school-based SLP with kiddos from pre-k to 8th grade on my caseload. I have also used this in a pediatric outpatient setting. This is by far my most used and FAVORITE set of materials for therapy. I love narrative intervention and this kit breaks everything down into easily implementable steps for a variety of my students. It is simple and can be implemented in large group, small group and individual contexts. It also has specific lesson plans that are detailed and easy to follow. Makes life SO easy. Plus, I can target just about any language-based goal within these stories...it is so much more than just story grammar elements. Comprehension, WH-questions, causal connections, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, coordinating and subordinating conjunctions, vocabulary, inferencing...I could go on. I can't say enough about Story Champs...it has helped my students improve their language production and their comprehension. It has also been extremely motivating and has helped my students not only improve their story retells...but their PERSONAL experience retells. Using this has helped my students to be more socially engaged because of storytelling (which wasn't even something that I expected!). Understanding the teaching procedures in this program has helped me be a more informed and powerful speech-language pathologist. I am able to teach these skills (e.g., story grammar elements, language complexity targets, inferencing, etc.) with my older students (4th grade to 8th grade) by using the framework that Story Champs presents. It's been revolutionary.

As a speech-language pathologist who serves a large population of students of various ages/disabilities, this is my favorite intervention tool! Not only is it easy to use with minimal prep, but I have seen it work first-hand with students that I was completely stuck with. These resources allow you, as a clinician, to go beyond the dreaded wh- questions and see progress that can truly be generalized to the classroom/social setting. I have used this program to target comprehension/expression of narrative language but also with vocabulary building, syntax structure, and personal storytelling. In addition, the CUBED assessment tool, allows for accurate progress monitoring so you can objectively see the improvements in these targeted skills. I cannot express how much I recommend this program for not just SLPs but teachers of all age groups!
