If My Body Could Speak (Button Poetry)

A series of serious poetry. She is truly an amazing writer. So glad I got her book, definitely worth the read.

These poems are so lovely. I forgot that I didnt have to be ashamed to tell peopke my sexuality, I forgot that other people deal with eating disorders until finding Blythe Baird. Ive been a fan for years and I can safely say that after listening to, or reading a poem of hers, I feel so much better. She has been such a light, and this book has helped me so already, despite receiving it on friday. I would recommend this book to anyone struggling with an Eating Disorder, Opression of feminism, and sexuality.

One of my favorite poetry books. Blythe has a way with words that seems to shine a light on the hardships of girlhood , body issues, and sexual assault.

Such an amazing book. So deep. So many amazing perspectives. 10/10 would read again and recommend to anyone who loves poetry. This book talks about what it’s like to be a queer woman and a woman in general, dealing with sexual assault, and does so with such an amazing organization of words. If you love poetry, and are a bit of a feminist you will NOT be disappointed.

I found Blythe Bird off button poetry. I couldnt be more grateful that I scrolled across one of her poems. This book is raw, real and filled with genuine emotion. She goes in depth about so many experiences and life events. It is few and far between to find a poet who can move you to tears. This book, moved me in that manner on more than once occasion. She is a phenomenal writer. These poems will stick with me for years. One thing that struck a cord with me was " Sagittarius, Sometimes it is lucky to care about something enough for it to hurt you." Ive read it 3 times now and I got it this week.

Quick read, really related to a lot of the poems.

Ive been waiting months for this book. I sat down and read it in one sitting. I found blythe a few years ago and I absolutely love her and her work. It's raw, beautiful , and relatable. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would.

I've loved Blythe's poetry for years and have found myself in her words more times than I'm proud to admit. Her poems are beautiful and comforting and heart breaking and REAL and strong. I love every word. Brava!

"Once, my dad informed me sexism is dead and reminded me to always carry pepper spray in the same breath. We accept this state of constant fear as just another component of being a girl. We text each other when we get home safe and it does not occur to us that not all of our guy friends have to do the same." I am no longer a person, I am just the throbbing open wound this book has left in its wake. I've transcribed a few of my favorite passages below because I feel like I won't be able to aptly describe how hard this book made me FEEL. And I think that is why I always find myself falling into poetry. To feel un-alone in the most meaningful way. Blythe Baird lays it all out, and refuses to make apologies for writing about her trauma. This one of the rawest collections I have ever experienced.

The best poetry slam you’ll find by far

Honestly, I adored every poem in this book, even despite how heartbreaking so many, if not all, of them were. Incredibly well-written, and I can't recommend it enough; hit very close to home for me on a number of occasions too. Genuinely, this book is so meaningful.
