There are other cheap alternatives but they have disadvantages. This product is totally safe as hamster littering and bedding material also the seller provides additional chew toy sand some meshes to store food in it and let your hamster tear the wooden mesh and take out the food. it gives the hamster some time to spend for working to earn its food and removes boredom. Or you can put it in its house these meshes are kind of nesting material to sleep in. I have store some of it and this material remains fresh even after storing it for nearly a year(11 months). I mean storing it not using in hamster cage. As I don't need entire quantity currently. But this absorbs urine and does not causes iching in hamster. SO feel free to use this only safe wooden bedding available in amazon in India at affordable rate. The seller is really good.

Aspen bedding is so much better than the normal wood shavings we were using before because: 1. It absorbs the smell and doesn't need changing as often 2. Doesn't stick to the fur of the hamsters and prevents the skin infections hamsters get from other kinds of wood bedding. 3. It is a lot easier to clean as compared to the other bedding. This is an excellent product that we will be using from now on for our pets! I highly recommend it to everyone! Easy to clean, no mess, no smell, and healthier for hamsters! We also received a small nest and aspen wood pieces for chewing. The hamsters love them both and thankfully have started to chew on the wood instead of the cage bars. The chips are too moist and not fresh and dry.They also seem to have fungi growing on them.The moisture presence is especially concerning as I fear that they will not absorb the hamster's urine since they are already moist.Probably the seller left the package out in the open and it absorbed the morning dew.i am disappointed as I was expecting a better product from this seller as he had some good reviews from other people.really disappointed with the quality of the chips.

Chewing this bedding made my hamster bleed from mouth and got badly infected. VET clearly mentioned its Cz bedding was hard and we immediately changed to a softer bedding and he is unable to eat anything . He is in medication now .
